Default Calgary home builder recommendations

I am considering buying a new home and was wondering if anyone has some recommendations/warnings for various Calgary builders. I am specifically looking at a house by Jager Homes. There are a few bad reviews out there but they seem to be from a few years ago so I'm hoping maybe they've cleaned up their act. Jager Homes is not even on the most recent JD Power list and currently has a F rating on the BBB, so I think I already know the answer to my question...Has anyone here built with them recently?

If they have a F rating on BBB then I don't think reading one good personal experience on CP should make you lean towards trusting them in spite of the BBB rating.

Trico homes is a builder I'd recommend.

We built with cardel, process was ok, I guess about what could be expected. At the end of the day, it is another house to them, and the biggest thing I will ever buy.

After 8 years the house is still standing and does not appear to have any issues.

Take all this for what it is worth.

I built with baywest homes and was pleased overall. I would definitely consider building with them again.

The one thing I really liked about them was the fact that they sent us to individual vendors rather than to a design studio like some of the other builders do. I felt like we had some more choice and flexibility that way. Not sure if they still do this but if they do it is a huge plus in my books.

Does anyone have any experience with Mattamy homes? I'm currently looking at buying and just wondering if any CP'ers have dealt with them?

Depends if it's suburban or infill. Where abouts are you planning on building?

I think that you could survey x number of homeowners of any builder, and some will have had a great experience, some will have had a bad, and others will be ok.

The quality of your house is determined by the trades guys.

I truly believe, that it is just another house to these companies, while it is the largest purchase you will ever make.

we have a homes by avi and 7 years later we still like it including the process. were we mad about some things? yes. were we waaaaay happy about almost everything else? yes.

to me, it seems to be about knowing what you want without too many changes going in and the site supervision and the quality of the trades' work.

we would build with homes by avi again.
