he almost scored, if you are gonna have such an asinine way of ending a game don't get mad when guys try something different. Better than shooting wide or right at the goalies chest

Well, if he's still got it on his stick like that still as he's skating past the hash marks, he's likely not going to be able to be raising the puck, so that takes a fair number of options off the table for the goalie to worry about.

Don't like it - would be annoyed if I were a sens fan. Nice save by Rask though. Boston won on the next shot right?

I would rather see a move like that than Iggy blasting a quick wrist into the goalies pad from the hash marks everytime he shoots.

Everyone loved Malik going between the legs because he scored. The only reason this move didn't get the same response was because it didn't work. Give him a break.
Because Datsyuk is a puck wizard, he can get away with anything

I think we would all lose our minds if a Flame pulled that and it didn't go in. Its only acceptable because it wasn't our team doing it.

If a Flames player tried that i'd be stunned.....seriously....I'd be totally expecting a slapper into the chest protector.

I think if a Flame did this and scored we would all be going nuts about how awesome it was.

I've got no problem with it. Pretty creative, unlike about 90% of the Flames' shootout attempts. Skate up to goalie, shoot at the pads, lose again.

Doing something ridiculous like that really fits in with the circus that is a shootout to finish a hockey game.

I have no problems with it. He's still using the hockey stick to try to get the puck into the net. I don't see how a move like this can be banned. That's like regulating how you can deke with a stick.

I liked it, thought it was creative. If rask would have let that in, his teammates would be all over his arse about it... Haha.

Yea, that's a move that looks like it has one, and only one chance to work at the NHL level.

Now that the shock factor is gone I can't imagine it ever being effective again.

I don't have a problem with the attempt. It almost worked. I have a problem with the fact the goal would have been allowed when his butt is rammed up against the goalies face. Any contact with the goalie when they are in the crease should automatically disallow the goal. His AHL shootout goal was clean his NHL attempt was not.

Ugh. Just another reason why the shootout is a joke. What a farce

True. The problem starts with awarding losing.
Regulation

How come more players don't carry the puck in on the blade of their stick like lacrosse and bat it in. I think it would be more successful than ringette moves, or is that not allowed?
