I love it - why not try something the goalie has probably never seen.

Wow that's friggen awesome, even better that he pulled it off so well during an in-game shootout. That's better than almost every attempt we've seen at all-star games.
I sort of doubt that could be pulled off in poorer ice conditions like in Calgary.

There's no way he can shoot the puck in that situation, so it's going to be a deke for sure. Poke check would have made him look super foolish.

Why? The goalie made a great save to keep it out, but it would not be very effective in the long run. The goalie knows it isn't going high.

Creative way to add fun to a dumb end of a game.

As mentioned on the OOT, Phil Bourque did the "ringette" (no clips online, but it was on a Rock 'em Sockem) in the late 80's on a penalty shot, and it was highly unpopular around the league.
An AHL, ECHL, All Star Game or skills competition move, IMO. Same level as Paajarvi and Schempf.

Wasn't that on a penalty shot as well?

How i wish the player codes of the 70's & 80's still were enforced on knobs like this.

Would have been better if it had gone in, but still...seemed kinda silly. Kind of made an ass of himself.

If it would have worked everyone would have loved how creative it was. What is the difference between him doing this move and Datysuk doing his one handed deke? it was an innovative move that almost worked. I would rather see a move like that than Iggy blasting a quick wrister into the goalies pad from the hash marks everytime he shoots.
Everyone loved Malik going between the legs because he scored. The only reason this move didn't get the same response was because it didn't work. Give him a break.

I think the save is more impressive. Wow. Imagine seeing that coming at you and trying to figure out what to do.
