How could you not support him is the real question.

As long as he's not wearing a jersey I hate (Canucks, Oilers, etc)... yes.

Iggy deserves a cup more than anyone in the league in my mind. Absolutely yes i would cheer for him, if i was him i would want out of here and onto a cup contending team. If he does get traded it will give me something to cheer for for the rest of this season.

This is how I feel. I voted no. I won't hold it against him if/when he leaves but I also won't cheer him on or support him.

I'm always looking for additional reasons to watch hockey. No matter where he goes I'll be watching. Secretly hoping for a Kunitz Crosby Iginla line!

Yes he owes the team nothing. He stayed around and carried this team for years, pre-2004, when they sucked, and sucked, and sucked somemore.

I don't think it matters what teams he plays on, even if you don't like the team he gets traded too, the least you can do is cheer for him. If you are loyal to Iginla I think you should cheer for him no matter what team he plays for.

I don't think I can ever cheer for the Oilers, Canucks, or Leafs, no matter what player is on that team. And that includes Iginla. Any other team though, and I'd have no problems cheering for him in the playoffs.

What loyalty do we honestly have to Iggy? I'm serious. I admire him and I think he was great to watch but did you guys get paid or something? Is Iggy sending out cheques to some fans?
I do like him as a player and I know he's a great person and all but other than the money he's been paid (essentially from the fans for the money we spend on the team) I don't know if we "owe" him anything.

We don't owe any player anything. They owe it to us to play the game hard that we love to watch. Its about entertainment value for our money we spend.
Iginla has given the Flame Fans a lot to cheer about, but he has been paid millions for his talent.
If or any other player is not going to play hard anymore or play the game at a high level, then that player should retire.
I want to see good hockey, and every good hockey player's career has to come to an end eventually.
If Iginla wants to win a cup, then he should try and get moved to a contender. I will cheer for him, but I am a Flames fan in the long run. I hope it works out for both parties, but like I said, the Fans don't owe any player jack.

All depends where he goes.
If he was traded to any of the following teams I never have disliked I am not going to start cheering for them just because Iggy is there.

I will support Iginla only if he gets traded to a team that has a good chance to win the Stanley Cup. Iginla deserves a cup and it's obvious that he's not winning one in Calgary.

I hope he goes to the team that gives the best offer I just don't want it to be another Canadian team. Boston would be awesome as I still like that team a ton for the 2011 SCF. Pitt seems like a nice fit. Out west LA and Chi would also be nice fits

The question is "will YOU support Iginla if he gets traded", everyone will have their own answer and explanation. We as Flames fans don't have to agree on one answer.
Personally, Iginla sparked my interest in hockey and made the Flames fan that I am today. I was a big NBA and NFL fan as a kid and generally only watched hockey during the playoffs. Iginla changed that for me and that's why he'll always mean a lot to me.
I'll cheer for Iginla up until the moment he retires and I'll cheer the Flames on for as long as I live because of him.

That's great. Didn't answer my question, but that's great. I'm glad he made you a fellow Flames fan, I just had the question to what we "owe" Iggy. I'm going to cheer for him but not because I "owe" him anything. I've put lots of money into the NHL, the Calgary Flames and to Jarome Iginla (indirectly) and he's entertained me. I don't think I "owe" him anything and I don't think he "owes" me anything.
I'm wondering why people think they "owe" him? Have they never paid any kind of money to watch or support the NHL and feel that they could somehow be in debt to him?
