I was wondering that too, why would Masseria pull his support for Gyp over $100,000 worth of heroin that was essentially his anyway?
With Capone and Chicago and Chalky and his men backing Nucky on his turf I think Masseria saw the tide turning. Made sense he would want to cut his loses and save his 30 men. So a deal with Rothstein for $100,00 (in 1920) would allow him to escape the situation without looking weak and face retaliation from Nucky and Capone had he continued the war. Though I'd wonder if he makes that deal knowing the fate of his men.
Historically speaking, anyone got a best guess on how many guns someone like Masseria or Capone could get in a day or two notice during their peaks?
I don't think we'll see much of Siegel's rise because he really is still mostly a small time player during prohibition. Besides realistically Lansky and Luciano are much more important figures in organized crime history. Bugsy is a more interesting character, but not nearly as important. I do think we'll see more Capone, and hopefully, Van Alden working for him. I really hope we see more Van Alden next year, him barely being involved in this season kinda makes sense with Michael Shannon working on Man of Steel, hopefully they work him back in more next year, terrific actor.

I don't think it had much to do with the 50 lbs. AR told Masseria that he had a new solution for peace between them and then asked if he wanted to get into the heroin business together. He was offering a long term partnership. The fact that Masseria didn't seem to think very highly of Gyp just made the decision easier.
As for losing his guys in the end I don't think that AR was aware of that plan. I was shocked when it happened but the angle with Mellon seemed to clear it up.
Great episode. Loved Richard going on a rampage (I just had a feeling the entire season he was gonna snap). At first I was disappointed in how Gyp died, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. After his entire backup disappeared, he deserved to be put down like a lame dog. In particular from the guy who did it. Hopefully Margaret is done, but I doubt it. Nucky seems like a real family man and I doubt he just lets her walk away, especially now that he considers himself the children's father. Can't wait for season 4 to begin!
Yeah, I mean Gyp was pretty close to getting killed by Masseria like 5 episodes or so ago anyway, it's not a stretch to think he'd walk away from him pretty easily.

So I pvr'd the whole season and just started watching since New Years Day, much like I started S1. Anyways, last night I was watching I think Ep 8. and I noticed the redheaded Wendys girl with the long neck was in it. It was the part where they were having the dance at the American legion. She didn't say "now that's better" but she did say, "you're an Ass" to her date.

I noticed her too. I mentioned it to my wife and she didn't know what I was talking about. She PVRs everything and never has seen the commercials.
Jeffrey Wright is heading to "Boardwalk Empire." Deadline.com reports the veteran film actor will join Season 4 of HBO's prohibition-era gangster drama as Valentin Narcisse, a "Doctor of Divinity" and philanthropist who controls Harlem.
Wright is the second major casting addition to the upcoming "Boardwalk Empire" season. "Office Space" star Ron Livingston was cast as a wealthy business who comes to Atlantic City and befriends Gillian Darmody (Gretchen Mol).
i didn't hear about the Ron Livingston addition, that's awesome. highly under-rated actor, he was one of the best characters in Band of Brothers (and of course Office Space)
You're out of your mind! She's 40 years old and is still absolutely gorgeous and looks great naked. I'd tune in just to watch her.
I've never understood this mentality. If you are just interested in seeing naked women, the internet provides an endless supply of better looking naked women than her. Rather they just kill her off and be done with it. Her inclusion in last season seemed forced and pointless. Plus she banged her own son!
