Every now and then (7-10 year intervals) we'll get a group of guys that just for one season play their hearts out. And then get traded off to other teams.
We need a group that consistently play well, unfortunately that requires either money or the pre-req of placing last consistently over a couple years to acquire some good picks, and unlike the Oilers who keep theirs, the Flames need to trade them off for guys who know what they're doing in their mid 20s.

It's worse as at least the Leafs tried to trade Sundin and other losers like McCabe. Those losers all declined to wave their NTC. The Flames don't even have the stones to ask their guys to waive.
