Haha, you got me, dear. Tonight as a special treat I want you to slap me as hard as you can during sexy time. I'll pretend I'm horrified, but keep doing it. I can't wait!

my circadian rhythm is very disturbed. I sleep 3-4 hours per weekday, often broken into 2 segments. Weekends I catch up a little.

I find a glass of Scotch before bed really helps to put me out and keeps me there.
Maybe this should go into the Scotch thread.

Glad I'm not the only one. At least 8 on weekdays, usually 9. Weekends I don't go out 11 - 12.

Does anyone else have sleep issues? What are they and what have you found helps resolve your sleep issues.

As mentioned above...consider testing for sleep apnea.
That was exactly my sleep pattern. I wouldn't sleep well for days and then would crash. Eventually it really wears you down and if you let it go on long enough it can really start to damage your heart, brain and well everything.
The fix for me...a sleep study and a CPAP machine. Now a 4-5 hr sleep is BETTER than a 8-10 hour one was before. I can't tell you how much better i feel. It's night and day. It's been 8 months and I've lost 30 pounds for example...something that was impossible for me to do before the CPAP.
All it took was that sleep study to tell me that I stopped breathing ~20 times an hour and by the middle of the night my oxygen was dropping to stupid low levels (do you ever suddenly wake up with your heart pounding and feeling nauseous? That's a sign your oxygen level is droppping).

Get up everyday at 5am. You will be fighting to keep your eyes open past 10pm.

Try to find either of two strains:
1) Jack Harrier
2) Ultra Haze
Very clear highs, low couch lock, good for muscle relaxation and no paranoia.

Basic stuff. Wake up and go to sleep at roughly the same time every day. Don't drink or eat before going to bed. common sense.
I find that every few months I go through a couple week stretch where I don't sleep for more than 4-5 hours but it corrects itself.

I can't sleep unless I have fan noise running constantly near me. I dunno why, but apparently it is quite common.
I sleep pretty well more often than not, unless I have an exam or a busy day ahead of me. A couple nights ago, the night before a mid-term I couldn't sleep at all, I stayed awake in bed for 6+ hours, until I gave up and went to class early.
I am also quite particular with how I sleep for some reason. I can't sleep on my back, or on my left side; and it's difficult for me to get any sleep with any lights on. I used to work night shifts, which forced me to sleep during the day, so my sleep arrangements became so bad I ducked taped garbage bags on my windows so the sunlight couldn't get in.
I must be a real spaz to sleep beside, which is why I'll probably get separate beds if I ever get married.

Routine + Exercise + shutting brain off via reading = good sleep.
Stress is a killer though, sleep just doesn't happen when stress levels are too high.

How long did it take for you to get to sleep on the machine? Was it hard to get used to?

I have long experienced symptoms of never being able to get enough sleep. A few months back, I managed to get in to a sleep clinic, where the doctor explained that my symptoms (lack of restorative sleep, waking up gasping, not being able to shut my brain off, consistently jarred awake by little things) were related to sleep apnea. In the process of waiting for my sleep study, I have begun to develop insomnia, and now I can’t seem to fall asleep before 2 am on most nights. Currently I have gotten less than 5 hours of sleep for the last 5 nights, when a few months back I would have been out for 8 hours minimum.
I feel like I’ve tried everything to get to sleep now that my routine has been jarred. Alcohol, no alcohol, warm milk, reading, earplugs, sleeping in a cool room, sleeping in a hot room, exercise 4 hours before bed, no exercise at all before bed. I feel like nothing works.
It’s amazing how such a simple natural act like sleeping can have such an impact on lives. I have found that my mood almost 100% depends on the quality of sleep I received the night before.

What were the costs for a CPAP? I'm reading anywhere between 2000-2500 for the machine.
