Well that might be the game. United need two to win now as Real have the road goal advantage.

Are you f'in kidding me? That's not a red for any reason in any league. That ref deserves a #### kicking post game.

There are a few referees in Calgary that I would rather have than these FIFA referees. I didn't say all. Not sure what level you have played at, but that may be why you have that observation.

Wow he was watching the ball, silly play with the foot up but definitely not a red. Brutal that it's basically ruined the game.

Just saw the red and that was pretty reckless from Nani.
That was at least a yellow, in my opinion not a straight red but it was cleats up right in the mid section. Needless play from him and quite stupid.
I have a feeling that if that was Alonso on Vidic people on here would have been happy with a red...little bit of an English soccer bias on this board even if most dislike Man United.

Not to mention that neither of the two reasons for the red card are actually punishable by a red card.

It likely does fall under "serious foul play" which is grounds for a straight red and that is up to the discretion of the referee.
We get the benefit of replay, but live from 20 yards away that probably looked absolutely malicious.
Jumping, cleats up, and boots above the waist...during live action I can see that being a red.

and it's the fact that he jumps cleats up!...there doesn't need to be an injury to a player to warrant a straight red, only the dangerous play that could potentially injure.

thanks to the ref, I hope that ####### never gets another CL game. Seriously, I can cope with losing if the other team is better, but this just makes me furious.

So does Dortmund play Madrid in the next round or is everyone reseeded for the quarters?

no re-seeding but there's a draw next friday for the QF (no seeding at all, every team can draw each other), at the same time they will draw for the Semi-Finals

In my opinion it wasn't a red but don't think it is the travesty many here think it is.
Was a stupid, stupid play by Nani. Any time you jump/lunge with your cleats up you are asking for trouble. Just because something is unintentional does not make it any less reckless and dangerous.
Straight reds have been given out for less and this one was a 50/50 call at worst.

Its not a red because its a champions league knockout game between Real and Man U and a good ref doesn't try to decide the game unless he absoloutly has too.
It was a yellow, a yellow because it didn't cost Real a player or a goal and because the game wasn't in the least chippy and the player wasn't on a warning or the like.
It used to be a joke but these days I would seriously worry about the ref being on the fiddle with that call
And I hate Man effing U and am glad they lost
