The guy turns 37 in October. What makes you think he will come back at age 38 especially if it's to play for a mediocre team like the Flames that doesn't have a shot at the Cup?

What happens to MacDonald if the Flames go against logic and common sense and keep Kipper next season? I feel if they were confident enough in Ramo that MacDonald would be a solid backup in case Ramo takes time to get acclimated to the North American game.

Athletes like to compete. If you think he'll retire simply because the Flames are a 'mediocre team' then I would question your competitive drive.

If Kipper feels that he can still play, I think it's highly likely that he will still play.

Who was it that was on the FAN yesterday calling Kiprusoff the most competitive player he has ever seen? (might have been Malarchuk)

Keeping Kipper - their best player - goes against logic and common sense?

That is not just wrong but also an ironic choice of words.

Franklin just tweeted that MacDonald is wearing his new mask, so that should stop some of the complaining.

Now Franklin says it's his old mask with Flames stickers on it.

Any pictures yet of his new mask?

Edit: that still looks like his old one.

How is that more proof? He must have ordered that mask weeks ago.

Ugh, and it looks like he's breaking in new all white pads. I am so ready for the all white era of pads to go away.

his current "vintage" looking ones are sick!

Silly question but does he have to pay for his own mask paint job or something and that's why it took so long for him to get flames colours? I thought the team paid for all the gear and stuff like that.

They most likely would pay for his mask, but can't see why they'd pay for an unnecessary paint job.

Just so it's not embarrassing for the team when he still has red wings markings on is mask. Even when Kipper first came here back in the day at least he had a plain Jane white mask.

Meaning you think Joey Mac is done with the Flames?

Flames up the middle. "MAC" on the chin. The Mack truck from Cars on the side.

I was fairly certain players were on the hook for all of their equipment (at least sticks for sure). Maybe they get an allowance or something toward it, but I'm pretty sure they are still paying for all of it. Anyone know for certain?

FYI since you haven't been here that long over the years here it's always been speculated if Kipper would even come back for the last year of the contract. Not saying he won't come back next year but there was always thought that Kipper would retire either at the end of this season or next.
