Curious, what's not natural about it?
It might not be right, it's never okay to prey on a teenager but it's natural. I doubt if a person whose attracted to teenagers willed themselves to find that age group more attractive then women 25-30.

If you want to cast the net wide enough I guarantee you I can find dozens of things you do that "peripherally condon[e] horrible crimes".
This is quite the holier than thou stance you're taking.

Perhaps natural was a wrong choice of words, as you're correct, chemical imbalances etc. can cause for same strange 'natural' behavior in humans. Perhaps "morally acceptable" was a better term.

I'm sure by me merely being on the Internet, traffic created by me is helping to create ad dollars for things I have no idea about. I could have a little discussion with my moral partners sitting on my shoulders every time I hit a site, but that seems a little much. Yes, CP is a terrible, terrible thing but there are probably a million more ad dollars generated by our surfing that are going to fund nutbar religious factions, so called terrorists, and the next US mass murderer, I'm sure.
My point is, do what you can when surfing to ensure you're doing it responsibility but if you're going to ask yourself "what is this click going to support?" every time you click something, you might as well go back to reading newspapers.

I don't get where this is coming from. Either admit you don't give a #### about what Reddit does or doesn't support, or give a valid argument for why it's okay to specifically visit the site when it's known to host and condone terrible things. I didn't start the thread to feel superior, I started it to see how many people could openly agree that they just didn't care vs how many would try to rationalize it.
Also, not many here have chimed in on the over-arching amount of misogyny on the site. Is that okay too?

Are you sure? Because that's exactly how you're coming off.
I don't visit Reddit often, it's not really on my radar, but I'm not going to pretend that my visiting the Reddit front page funds CP any more than I'm going to pretend that my purchase of a product with component parts manufactured in China leads to child labor. If anything there's much more of a direct link in the latter scenario, hence the question that you've declined to answer. It seems you've drawn a number of arbitrary lines and decided to pass judgement based on them.

Re: misogyny on CP
How can you in any good conscience continue to patronize this site, knowing that by doing so you are condoning misogyny?
Is it laziness? Lack of concern? Have you given up on the world and just don't care?

So I guess I can add Ad Hominem to the list now.
The unanimous decision seems to be that "bad #### happens, can't stop all of it."
It's been an interesting social experiment.

Honestly, the reason I go to reddit is that I find it useful.
I have not experienced/seen the things that PsYcNeT speaks of.
It is a massive site with a lot of interesting/awesome things.

Honestly, that's the thing that pisses me off the most. I actually *like* a good portion of Reddit, and was a user there for 5 years before I couldn't take it anymore.
Though the way the thread has painted me, I'm just doing this to be a smug #######, not get peoples opinions.

Yup, same here. I have a list of reddit bookmarks, on stuff that interests me, that I need to go back to and read because I haven't had time to read them yet but came across that at some point.

I like how you've distilled all of the fairly diverse commentary in your thread by myriad other posters to a quote that was said by precisely none of them. That takes some brass balls, right there.

I'm pretty new to Reddit, don't have an account and don't post. I think it's a pretty good site, basically the entire internet in a nutshell. Mostly useless, some parts are great and there is without a doubt a darkside (which I didn't know about until the OP posted it).
I kind of get what the OP is saying, but I feel like this runs the same lines as free speech. While it is important to protect our freedom of speech for whatever you choose to believe in, doing so is also protecting freedom of speech for those who believe in thinks you are greatly opposed to. You can't really take one without the other.
And if reddit was eventually shutdown, what would the next step be? Should we then boycott google because someone could use it to look up CP, or bomb making tips, or whatever?
