Here in leafs land, Brown was a fan favourite. Good 4th line guy, will fight, and plays well enough in the 4min he typically gets. Colton orr and Marlie call-up Mclaren made him expendable.
Brown is also know for his epic beard

So good 4th line guy = decent second liner on the Oilers?
If so, does Yakupov get sent to the minors now?

Is there a beard gap between the Flames and Oilers now? I noticed the monster beard on an Avalanche player last week, and now I am worried this team is becoming the baby-faced pushovers of the new, more hirsute NHL.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie BTW, TOR now cheering for EDM to make playoffs this year. If so, 4th rder in 2014 for Mike Brown becomes 3rd rder in 2014.

I don't know...I watched the Oilers sign Eager and Hordichuk to do these things that Mike Brown apparently does, and nothing changed then. I watched Laraque play for this team and fight once in awhile, and nothing changed. I just don't see the need for a guy who can't play offensively in this league anymore. Mike Brown is seemingly to me, a wasted roster spot. Don't get me wrong, our bottom six isn't great, but if this sends a guy like Magnus Paajarvi to the minors, this was the wrong trade.
I'm not a "the sky is falling" kind of guy with the Oilers, I think they need time to mature and grow (their best players are just too young), I just don't see this as a move that solves any sort of problem.

Kind of funny how many believe todays NHL has moved past the heavyweight era, but as soon as one team moves for one, their 2 closest rivals respond in kind immediately.

Feaster actually deserves a little credit here; he acquires McGrattan, who runs around for a shift, wallpapers three Canucks and wins a fight, all while looking like a man who will cut you up into little pieces of meat. The Oilers, paranoid about McGrattan running their 'young Turks' (Dumbest nickname ever btw) go out and spend an asset (though not much of one) to bring in Mike Brown.
Maybe he really is just playing a game on a much larger time scale than everyone else. Or maybe everything's unrelated. But in a week, he managed to screw up Colorado's salary structure and force Edmonton to trade a draft pick.

Brown plays hard and the Oilers are lacking a guy that plays with grit and will fight for the puck. Brown is no match for McGrattan.

Its the eyes man, McGratton's got the crazy eyes.
Mike Brown is decent in his role, but I don't know if he's in a true heavyweight class.
But he will ad to a terrible and soft Oilers bottom 6.

Do you think we can get Ryan Jones or Hardtospellnen from them? Those are the only 2 Oilers i would want on the Flames.

Your top six is way to small and soft to play in the NHL. Skill only gets you so far, you need some grit to go with the skill. In hindsight Landeskog and probably Murray would have been better picks for the Oilers.
