Its a team that's incredibly badly built with little or no thought, its a team with no depth and a weak bottom half of the lineup. The only thing that's gotten Edmonton wins this year is goaltending, they've played like a 3 win team maybe 4 win.
They can't score even strength because they play perimeter hockey, even with Hordichuk and company they scare no one physically. they allow a ton of shots.
They've really in my mind got the wrong coach, but more about that later.
They've built an environment where losing is ok, as long as individuals have flashy stats so this team does not play good supportive hockey.
They have the wrong coach, they tossed Renny because he was a teaching coach that wasn't strong on accountibility, and they turn around and hire the same kind of soft coach (watch that reality show junk you'll see what I mean). what they should have done at this point is hired a tougher task master coach that could start demanding more out of these players.
they have the worst management team in the NHL, I know that's hard to believe after the last few days, but the fact that Lowe and Tambellini and especially Lowe have hung onto their jobs after years of terrible management and absolutely no clue on how to build a team is baffling to me.
But then again Katz outside of whining about the arena deal has almost become an absent owner who is such a big fan of Lowe that he has failed to make him accountable to the fans and to the organization.
Oiler fans should be very afraid that this team is an utter failure and they might if they don't start getting traction in the next 2 seasons is facing another rebuild.
there's nothing that screams special team or future contender to me.
They should be extremely embarrassed that they're competing with the Flames this year after having the advantage of 11 high first round draft picks in the last 7 years.

I firmly believe that Katz is a Flames or Canucks fan and he's laughing at that city of idiots. I mean he's putting out a team that's $15million under the cap, has finished 30th, 30th and 29th (on pace for a top 5 again)...and they pack the house without question.
He's sold them magic beans and they're eatting it up. I mean most of the "kids" are on entry level deals too, so they won't even earn all they're bonuses that take up that cap room and Katz gets to pocket even more cash. People call the Flames ownership the devil for trying to make the playoffs to make money, but don't realize that they could make MORE money by doing what the Oiler's have done.
I mean he's pretty much executing the plan I'd carry out if I was a billionaire. Why buy the Flames (the team I love) when I could buy their arch rival and make them suck for eternity while pocketing dump trucks full of cash their fan base worked hard for? Next up I hope after he builds his new arena he sells all the season tickets to outlets like Stubhub/other scalpers to drive up the prices for the common man.

Agree with everything in this post except for the first line. It sure is fun to laugh at them! That franchise is going nowhere until they get rid of Lowe.

I wouldn't really blame Renney or Kruger given what they had/have to work with. The goaltending is very questionable, the defense is terrible, and they are weak up the middle. Just a terrible management team who can't even draft 1st overall properly, playoffs aren't going to happen with a team that thin. If one of their centers gets hurt I could see them finishing last again.
It can also be argued that they took the wrong guy with each of their 1st overall picks, but time will tell on that one.

They've been getting unbelievable goaltending this year that has pretty much effectively won them more then half their games.
Based on talent and how they're playing if they got last years average goaltending they would have about 3 wins. For once their goaltending is masking how bad this team is, in a lot of ways with the shots they allow and their lack of 5x5 offense this Oilers team might be worse then last years in a lot of ways.

It sums up the Oilers season and how it will go seeing the Oilers getting all excited when Gagne had a clearing attempt go off his body behind the net and some how get batted out of the air by Suter into his own net. They reacted like Gagne scored any amazing goal. Laughable.
I guess it was amazing it was a regular strength goal.

And a rare even strength goal, those should be celebrated in Edmonton like someone digging up the corpse of King Richard

The really annoying part is the fact that the team up North has been held up as the model franchise, the team the Flames should aspire to be like. I'm not sure the way the Flames are going about it is the best way, but once again tearing it down for draft picks is not a guaranteed successful strategy.

Outshot 18-0 in ONE PERIOD?
Clearly they have too many centermen on their team.

Man this North Alberta team is so overrated. How can this many so called top prospects be this bad. Honestly they haven't been improving at all. They might get another first overall pick. I'm not saying the Flames are better. But Oilers should be on the upswing but I have seen none of that. Look at Chicago Philly Ottawa Montreal and Toronto. Upscale picks that were lower than the Oilers in the draft. Those teams have been improving every year. Then you look at Edmonton and they are still stuck in the same rut year after year. The are sure building something special up there LOL!!!!!
What a Joke

Not sure if serious.. but I can guarentee that Katz bleeds his blue and copper. He is is love with the Oilers of the 80s and that is his problem. As pointed our earlier he does not hold Lowe accountable. Somehow MacT got back into the organization and the focus is on rebuilding the flashy skaters of the 80s. The problem is those teams don't win anymore. The game has evolved and either he doesn't see it or he has too much blind faith in Lowe that he doesn't believe it. Until he can let go of the past he will never make the changes required to turn his toy into a hockey team.

Who wants to go through the same rebuild as Edmonton?
Most people who want a rebuild want to avoid that very thing by trading guys while they have value rather than like Edmonton stubbornly holding on to a crap team and having to rebuild because the team was garbage.
The way Feaster is running this team we are headed towards an Edmonton style rebuild whether posters here want it or not.
