Default Special Oilers get 0 shots in a period

This night keeps getting better! Minnesota out shoots them 18-0 in the second period.

When is the last time a team has been held without a shot in a period?

Pretty sure this happened to Edmonton a year or two ago as we'll, except it was in the first period.

It happens, who cares about the Oilers.

The Flames did it to the Sharks about ten years ago. Oleg Saprykin and Roman Turek had excellent first periods for the Flames.

The NHL really needs to demote them to the AHL for a couple of years.

We have to thank Pierre Maguire for years for coming up with that!

Doesn't really seem like something that warrants it's own thread. But man how the "mighty" have fallen. It's funny how the media were hyping up all of those points the young guns where scoring in the AHL and how they hyped up that since they have been playing that it would make them better than most teams. And here they are back in the gutter. I know we can't talk jack because our team isn't doing much better, but at least nobody in the media put as much expectations on us as they were on the Oilers.

Is their coach in trouble, at all?? It's early, but in a condensed season I wonder if he might have a shorter leash.

Honestly, its gotten to the point with the Oilers that its not even fun to laugh at them. After all of they hype and media predictions including third place in the NHL, I'm hoping its time that the more reasonable fans take a serious look at this team and actually start to get mad.

Its a team that's incredibly badly built with little or no thought, its a team with no depth and a weak bottom half of the lineup. The only thing that's gotten Edmonton wins this year is goaltending, they've played like a 3 win team maybe 4 win.

They can't score even strength because they play perimeter hockey, even with Hordichuk and company they scare no one physically. they allow a ton of shots.

They've really in my mind got the wrong coach, but more about that later.

They've built an environment where losing is ok, as long as individuals have flashy stats so this team does not play good supportive hockey.

They have the wrong coach, they tossed Renny because he was a teaching coach that wasn't strong on accountibility, and they turn around and hire the same kind of soft coach (watch that reality show junk you'll see what I mean). what they should have done at this point is hired a tougher task master coach that could start demanding more out of these players.

they have the worst management team in the NHL, I know that's hard to believe after the last few days, but the fact that Lowe and Tambellini and especially Lowe have hung onto their jobs after years of terrible management and absolutely no clue on how to build a team is baffling to me.

But then again Katz outside of whining about the arena deal has almost become an absent owner who is such a big fan of Lowe that he has failed to make him accountable to the fans and to the organization.

Oiler fans should be very afraid that this team is an utter failure and they might if they don't start getting traction in the next 2 seasons is facing another rebuild.

there's nothing that screams special team or future contender to me.

They should be extremely embarrassed that they're competing with the Flames this year after having the advantage of 11 high first round draft picks in the last 7 years.
