I want King gone first, I can't email him saying go home and bring everyone you have ever hired with you.

I sent a message asking for answers from the podium. Don't hide from this.

I understand the concern about the close call, but come on. It doesnt mean he will now automatically make idiot personnel decisions.
As was said in another thread, there is enough drama in here to match a junior high dance.
|
The joke I was making is that management still believes this team is in "win now" mode. They're going to trade picks for older castoffs at the deadline, instead of casting off our own older guys for picks like it should be done.

Really didn't have anything to do with ROR. Has everything to do with comments Feaster has made last/this year regarding the teams direction.

The public has shown enough backlash to affect change in many instances through out history. If people are serious about wanting him gone at least have the balls to write a letter instead of whining in this forum.
If everyone thought like half the people that want him gone in this thread there would still be segregation and a lot of us wouldn't have the right to vote. If King gets enough angry letters he will at least think about sacrificing Feaster to save his own ass and that is a start.

More productive than typing out the equivalent of paragraphs on why you have no confidence in Feaster to fellow fans when you could as easily put that same text in an email to the organization.

As long as fans fill the Saddledome, happily paying to watch a substandard product, why would the owners do anything?
We had this conversation about the NHL boycott due to the lockout - if fans continue to fill the seats, night after night, the NHL and NHLPA will do whatever they damn well please.
This obviously goes for the Flames as well...if fans keep paying, nothing will happen

I may be in the minority but if anything I think another reason he should be fired is for handling Irving. This guy is giving zero confidence to the kids trying to make the team.
I would have benched a few of our quitters and brought up more kids, maybe even a center.
Just sad to watch. All of this goes beyond the gross incompetence on the Ror. If it wasn't clear on the waivers he could have asked for league thoughts in advance. To me he gave the worst legal answer I have ever heard. We would all live to follow the law to our own understanding. I would love to watch a judge laugh at me for that.

I didn't mean that a letter to KK as you are suggesting would not be productive: I fully agree with your assertion that, if people want change, they should do something constructive about it.
What I meant was, I don't want to see KK fire and replace Feaster, because I don't think Feaster is the problem. I believe KK needs to be replaced with a hockey guy that can giee the organiztion proper direction (a JD type)

Before you fire anyone, you need to know what kind of guys you'll replace them with. Secondly, you need to actually have a plan or idea as to what kind of team you even want in the first place.

So...curious question. Did all of you just copy and paste your "Fire Sutter" posts from a few years ago? Apparently to be a GM in Calgary you need to be infallible(sorry..big word...here's the definition)
When a person is called 'infallible', this can mean any of the following:
Some (or all) statements or teachings made by this person can be relied on to be certainly true.
This person always makes good and moral choices, and his actions may never be considered immoral or evil.
This person is always right, and never wrong or incorrect.
They made a mistake based on an already ambiguous rule and like those moronic talking heads in the media everyone is already getting the big wooden stake out and gathering wood for the fire.
Seriously...some of you need to give your heads a shake.

I have no knowledge of the situation but if you take a step back and assess everything pointed to Davidson wanting the job in Calgary considering he has significant ties to the city and area.
Why do you think did he not come here? Why would he go to Columbus, somewhere he has no connection to and which is a total basketcase instead of his hometown?
You could surmise a couple of things, that he wouldn't have been given the proper mandate as president to do the job as he saw fit. Or that his vision of a strategy for the franchise differed from that of ownership. And that he probably felt that Columbus with an owner who was willing to completely offload the hockey operations to him, the expert, was a better move professionally.

Or, that the job simply wasn't available because someone already has it, but regardless, it's a shame. Would have loved to have him come in as President of hockey operations.

Agreed but that doesn't actually refute my point. So what if someone already had the position. That someone was and is failing in that position. As a business you make the moves necessary to make your team better. If someone with the cachet and expertise of Davidson lands in your lap you fire King and hire Davidson and to hell with anything else.

I am in complete agreement with you. If it were up to me, I would have changed KK's role and brought JD in as pres of hockey ops

That's great and all, but that can not happen now. Talking about what could have been, does nothing for the flames future.
While i agree with getting rid of Ken King would be a good step, it's not going to happen anytime soon.

Really who is going to be interested in a job, where you get hired mid season and the first move could be trading away the most popular player in the history of the franchise? GM's love jobs where the previous guy tore it down for them. They hate having to be the guy who has to tear it down.
