After a horrible few months where nothing was working out for him, this is the perfect situation

The Blades started turning things around as soon as Ferland showed up, it has been great. The city is all talk about the Blades right now and his name comes up first.

From the games I have gone to see he has looked great, a man among kids.. which I guess technically he is :P But still great for his confidence. Word of mouth is that the Blades trainer has been working with him very closely to help him trump his conditioning problems and I think it shows as his ice time has steadily increased. I am hoping he can carry that into the off season and have a good camp in the summer.

Going to see him again Friday night, excited to see a Blades game? This is a first..

Jon Gillies was named Hockey East Rookie of the Month for February: http://www.hockeyeastonline.com/men/media/monthly.php

Quote:
Gillies posted a 3-0-3 record for February with a 1.76 GAA and a .947 save percentage, including a 1-0 shutout of fifth-ranked New Hampshire (Feb. 17). He allowed two goals or fewer in five of the six starts and posted 30+ on four occasions in the month. Gillies faced three nationally ranked teams in the month and went 1-0-2 against them.
He also shared the Rookie of the Month honours for October, so he is the first player to be named Rookie of the Month twice this season.

Right now, there is a four-way tie for first in Hockey East including both BC and Providence, who play a crucial home-and-home series on Friday and Saturday. Unlike the game they played in December (which Jankowski missed), all four of the Flames prospects should be playing.

Tomorrow's game in Providence can be seen online for $5 (5:00pm MT): http://go.coxsportsonline.com/

I can never find any online streams of NESN, but if you can get it, they'll be showing Saturday's game (2:00pm MT).

Gaudreau... Is he still alive? Haven't heard about him in a while

Boston College at Providence is on now (PPV link above). All Flames' picks are playing.

So far (about 5 minutes in), Providence had been carrying the play, so Gillies hasn't had much work.

Gaudreau and Arnold are playing on the same line tonight. All four Flames' picks were just on the ice and Janko took a hitting from behind penalty on Gaudreau.

It wasn't a dirty hit. He pulled up or he could have put him through the boards, but they call the hitting from behind tight.

0-0 after one in Providence. Shots were 9-8 for PC. Neither team was particularly threatening.

Early in the second, Gaudreau took another hit from behind. This time, he was hit head-first into the boards and it resulted in a 5 minute BC PP.

On the PP, there were 3 goals scored, 2 for BC and one for PC. One assist for Gaudreau on the second BC goal. Gillies didn't really have a chance on either goal.

2-1 BC lead with 13:15 left in the second.

BC got another PP late in the second. They controlled the play in the PC zone for most of the two minutes and finally put one past Gillies just after the penalty expired.

3-1 BC lead after 2. Shots were 19-8 for BC in the second.

BC is a much better team. Gillies is definitely PC's best player.

To start the third, PC got an early PP and scored on it to bring the score to 3-2.

Uh oh...BC's captain pushed one of the PC defencemen into Gillies and he clunked his head off the crossbar. It definitely rung his bell, but it looks like he's staying in the game.

Providence gets a PP out of it.

Providence pushed back hard in the third, but BC hung on to win 3-2.

Gillies finished the game despite getting his bell rung early in the third.

Gaudreau with 1 assist for the only Flame point on the night.

I like Arnold's game, and hope he'll be making the trip to Abbotsford when BC's season ends. Last year, the Flames invited Providence's captain, Tim Schaller, to the prospects camp. He's a big-bodied centre who should get another look, IMO. A PTO in Abbotsford might be a good idea.

So the Flames need to clear off about four contract spots for College players turning pro this year correct?

Ramage, Arnold and who else?

Arnold can stay one more year at BC if he wants.

From what I know Granlund, Wotherspoon, Brossoit and Ramage are the only graduating players from various leagues that we'll need to sign. I'm a little surprised we haven't heard anything from Feaster concerning these players yet.

I hope Arnold goes pro next season.

I want to see how he looks as a pro. 6'0" 220lbs, two way center with smarts?

Yeah, I like the sounds of that.

Brust and Taylor, what do their contracts look like? Who can we release anyone to bring up Brossoit?

Taylor has an NHL two way that expires July 1st (UFA)
Brust is on an AHL deal, which I assume would also expire July 1st.
Irving is also in the equation as far as the AHL goes, his NHL two way expires July 1st (UFA)

I don't see any room for Brossoit to get called up this season, but I don't think that matters as he is probably going to have another long playoff run with the Oil Kings.
