If the mandate does not change i don't think Weisbrod would be any better than Feaster. He is part of this mess that we are talking about today. He is a big reason that the flames thought Cervenka would be a center. Feaster heavily rely's on Weisbrod, his paint strokes are on this team already.

I gave Feaster the benefit of the doubt and really liked the offer sheet on its face. After learning the details though Feaster needs to be fired or resign. That oversight is absolutely unforgivable and just reeks of incompetence.

You can blame Feaster for hiring someone who was incompetent at their job, but you can't blame Feaster for trusting someone he believed was qualified to look for technicalities like this.

Yikes. This shortside has to come with some accountability. If this gone through, Flames would've become a laughing stock for eternity.

Yes.

I'm sure the Flames/Feaster will just say they interpreted it differently and would have contested it... the PA would also jump on their side since it hurts future RFAs.

There is still some if's and buts

If he played in the KHL after the 19th
you can also trade RFA status, would probably cost another pick

I said in the other thread, I looked through the game sheets and while his name didn't show up for the Jan 21st game, it does show up for the Jan 23rd game, he played around 15 minutes.

here's the game report:

Wow what an absolute mess hoenstly I think someone hig hup needs to answer for this. With Brian Burke one of the most impatient GM's in the league wanting work, and the Flames ownership equally as impatient with this soft team that is currently built I can see something happening.

The most important aspect of Feaster's job as general manager is to understand the legal document that sets the parameters under which he can build his team. He didn't, and in doing so, just about set this franchise back years in one day.

Factor in the fact that Feaster has a LAW DEGREE and is therefore the last GM in the league who should be caught in such a situation, and the answer should be obvious.

Does it matter to anyone that apparently at least one other team (Canucks), and probably more, also missed this?
