It gives me fear that Feaster was the hand picked successor for Darryl.
It gives me fear that Feaster, in one of his most blowhard of moments, declared that if the flames were going to rebuild, they hired the wrong GM.
It gives me fear he wasn't canned earlier for assembling a team with 1 centre on it.
Flames are just going to hire another yes man.

One potential benefit of this outcome is that the Flames forced the Avs' hand and made them pay O'Reilly what they didn't want to pay. Of course Feaster clearly thought O'Reily was a $5M player, but atleast now the Avs have to pony up. One of the perks of being a franchise rich with young talent is that you can let a guy like O'Reilly hold out. But Feaster forced the Avs to pay O'Reilly what he thought he was worth -- so I see it as a win-win for the Flames. Stil would have been an interesting acquisition had the Avs not matched, though. But atleast the Flames still have their first round pick.

Please let this just be some sort of misunderstanding, and not let it be true that a complete idiot is running our favorite hockey team.

It's a technicality people that was missed. Feaster is not the only guy making decisions to do things like this. He won't be fired. Why? Because as silly as it all sounds and what could have happened would have been epic...it didn't happen.

Feaster has to be fired and Ken King with him. We're becoming the laughing stock of the NHL.

And apparently 2 other teams were poised to offer sheet ROR as well?
I really want an explanation from the team.

I can't really defend him anymore after this...what an embarrassment.

So when do we hire Burke? lol I'm just in a state of shock here. Definitely willing to hear an explanation before I throw Feaster under the bus, but COME ON

It's not a technicality. It's a massive mistake. Maybe it wasn't Feaster's job to comb through the new CBA for stuff like this, but whoever's job it was, they need to be fired. If Feaster didn't have someone looking for technicalities like this, Feaster needs to be fired.

Fine. Fire the person who's job it is to read through the details then.
