Avs will definitely match given that they are asking a lot more than a 1st and 3rd rounder for him.
I dont think that the Avalanche can match and trade him for one year. Or is it that they cant trade him to Calgary for one year after matching.

The Flames are desperate, don't see how if this works it's Feasters ticket out. Potential to be a huge move.

He has only been in the league for 3 seasons and he's 21 years old. Look at the numbers most 18 year olds put up their first couple years.

This move shows one thing: Feaster and ownership refuse to "sell". So our 1st rounder this year? It's not going to be a top 5 pick regardless of what happens.

If Colorado matches, I wonder what Feaster does then...

Yes - but a) it's one season, b) it's illusory as he was given an increased offensive role and his production dropped IMMEDIATELY as soon as Duchene came back, and c) it's just a bad contract because of the 2nd year dollar figure. Does anyone seriously think this guy is worth a 6.8 QO in 2 years?

If I'm Sherman I wash my hands of this whole thing and take the picks and run with 'em.

This reminds me of the Kessel sign and trade or trade and sign whatever it was.

That first is going to come back and haunt us.

Feaster is a complete idiot. This organization is going no where with management like this.

Offer sheet compensation is always with picks from the upcoming draft.

Couldn't care less about the money - $5M cap hit isn't huge for a top 6 C

Great post!!! This kid is young and in my eyes a future selke winner. He is not a #1 center.

It all comes down to where they finish. Got to think if they get him, someone from the top 6 is out.

If they don't match right away (like within a day), then I really doubt they will. If they want to match, then waitiing doesn't help them.

ROR reminds me a lot of Prime Craig Conroy. So I am really excited to see him on the Flames

Really can't see Col matching this offer. They would have to pay him almost 7 million in the calender year, and the 6.5 mil price tag would lower his value when they could finally trade him.

How awkward would it be for them to have him on the team for a year after all of this? Not to mention he would be their 2nd highest paid player, someone who tried to leave for a rival. They CANT match this

The Flames may get a top 5-8 pick this year. That is more than Runblad.
