Well, Piskula sure wasn't going to help with it, seeing as he gets zero shifts a game.

Perhaps shipping a body out?
Could they not just switch him with Aliu? When Kipper comes back Taylor will be sent down.

Look at the players on the bench. I think we can use a little of that this season. There are just too many punks taking liberties:

I'd guess Aliu gets sent down if he doesn't perform.

Need to figure out how to make Babchuk disappear.

If he spends those 3 minutes pounding the crap out of guys, it's going to at the very least stop our goalie from getting run.

Can you be sent down if you're injured? I doubt it.

they'd just send aliu down and sit jackman/comeau/begin/cervenka/baertchi when mcgrattan dresses, no?

This article (by a former AHLer) is very relevant: http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2013/0...-of-sandpaper/

Man is it hard cheering for an organization stuck in the 80's. Playing McGrattan 3 minutes a night isn't going to change team toughness. It will, however, drag our mediocre fourth line down even further.

Imagine this - we could easily be fielding a 4th line of McGrattan-Begin-Aliu this weekend. There can't be a worse line in the NHL than that.

Pretty sure Aliu is going to play tonight. My guess is that he is going to have to drop the gloves if he wants to be on the flames roster for the Vancouver game.

Seems kind of strange... from McKenzie's tweets it sounds like they want McGrattan on the NHL roster ASAP...

if they were going to send down Aliu, they could do it right now.

but it is possible they send Aliu down after tonight's game

Well, they just got rid of a defenceman in Abbotsford, so my guess is we'll see Babchuk on waivers in a couple of minutes. Aliu probably goes back down once everything is sorted out too.

So he may very well join the Flames eh?

Ugh. Well, at least we didn't trade a pick for him.

Hopefully Feaster moves Jackman or Babchuk and is able to return a draft pick in the deal, while freeing up another contract spot.

I've never been a huge fan of a dedicated enforcer but with how buttery soft this team is, I'm fine with it.

If he's in the lineup tonight, it might be even more fun to watch!

I hate having a goon on this team. I would rather have a shootout specialist.

McGrattan, really? Another waste of a roster spot, on a team full of wasted Roster spots. When is the last time the Flames did a trade that actually made the team better?

It will be a miracle if the Flames don't finish dead last this year.

i really think guys who can play who aren't afraid to mix it up in the post whistle scrums and drop em once in a while is much more the new nhl "toughness" element required by all teams.

Curious why mcgrattan was considered a better alternative than Volpatti (who was claimed off waivers by the caps just now).
