Looking at the Canucks prospects they don't have much help coming and like the Flames will lean on their vets too deep into their 30's. Most of the top teams have a good balance of veteran and young talent.

I can only hope that the Canucks go the same route as Calgary and cling to their vets far past the point of having a chance at winning a cup.

I live in Victoria and take a daily verbal beating on the chosen path of the flames. I would love to give it back for 5-6 yeras.

his best quality was his defensive work, you may think it's BS but that doesn't make it wrong

I never said he wasn't good defensively. You said flat out that he wasn't brought in for his offensive abilities. That is flat out BS.

Yeah I think there's a bit of revisionist history going on here with the resident Canuck fans. The big selling point on Garrison was his booming slapshot, his solid defensive play was the bonus. Don't try and turn it the other way around. They needed Garrison's point shot because of the loss of Salo and Erhoff the year before.

He's getting paid $4.5 million per year AND he took a hometown discount to be a defensive defenseman? So what would his price be if he didn't take a discount? $5 million? $5.5 million? $6 million? How many defensive defencemen in the league make that much money?

I'm not saying Garrison has been bad, but Canuck fans have to admit to being at least a little disappointed with his offensive numbers. But maybe his defensive play this year has made up for, but they are paying him to be more of an offensive threat.

I said that when he signed

I don't even think he's that bad offensively this year, he's on pace for a full season of 12 goals, he would have more assists if he played regularly on PP 1 like he did in Florida last season but there is more talent in front of him this year

LOL, in what world is solid defensive play a "bonus"?

Garrison was absolutely brought in for what they thought was his offensive prowess. It was discussed last week (at Rogers) that he is going the way of Bouwmesster as far as offense goes. Already off the PP. Regardless, he has not been terrible and is not the reason the defense sucks. The pairings outside of Tanev and Ballard have a complete lack of chemistry and the coaching staff have said on many occasions that the Ballard/Tanev pair have been the best all season.

I think early you had guys step up in Kesler's absence like Kassian and Schroeder but have since tailed off. The extended loss of Kesler is a big blow and might make them move a goalie sooner rather than later if they can find takers. There are rumblings that Corey is not happy with his playing time and is finding it hard to get in a rhythm. it all doesn't mean much if you can't find a dance partner.

Canucks will be fine as they play in a craptacular division and the Sedins really haven't played up to par so far but you know they will turn it on at some point.

I certainly don't wish for anyone to get hurt but I do have a hard time feeling sorry for a guy who pretends to be hurt a couple times a game when he actually does get hurt. Classic boy who cried wolf situation.

I'm actually not sure this isn't some kind of long-con dive to get super rested for the playoffs.

What will they ever do without a guy who racks up his numbers against weak teams and basically vanishes against tougher teams.

Maybe he can sit at home and practice his head snapping.

Most times I feel a bit sorry for players getting injured, not in Kesler's case. Maybe he can work on his RK17 merchandising.
