That was a horrible call, it was not even a penalty. The officiating is abysmal this year, something needs to be done.

We used to see Phaneuf do that all the time in Calgary. I don't think it's even a penalty.

Mike Brown thought Georges was going to turn his direction, but didn't so Brown instead hit him from behind.

That was definitely boarding. But the only way that is a major is if Georges was cut and TSN didn't pick it up. If there is a cut, it is an automatic 5 + game.

Man, Mike Milbury just spent a solid three minutes absolutely ripping Alex Ovechkin's play tonight, and he's completely right. The highlight pack was an embarrassing dive/embellishment, several lazy plays on the boards, lazy giveaways and him going off on a line change while his team was attempting to defend deep in their zone. He was skating near his own bench when Philly scored. And that is just two periods.

Didn't think the Grabovsky trip should been a penalty shot.

Don't think so either. But they give penalties shot out much easier these days.

ya its definatly turned more into grey'r area than ever before.
I always liked the rule of thumb that if a player has 2 full strides than its a penalty shot.
The ref's have been given more power of yes or no and there is little consistancy with the current format.

I think Ovechkin took maybe 3 strides on that whole shift... Guy has checked out of hockey.

I don't think Tom Kowal should be an NHL referee, but here we are anyway.
