Default NHL Realignment

I assume the CPHL will be following suit?

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=416887

If so, the Hawks are sorry to see the Jackets and Wings leave the divison.

We will wait to see what they come up with and then make sure we can do it. The one thing I don't like - if reading this - is that teams in the west would have a greater chance of making the post-season than teams in the east. That doesn't seem fair and would make us question whether or not to do it in the CPHL.

We could bring back the California Golden Seals and Kansas City Scouts.

For the record if we do consider expansion to even out the conferences I'll volunteer to run one of the expansion teams.

Why is the NHL even changing the way it is?

Switch Detroit with Winnipeg.. done.

I dunno. They really do seem intent on making it more complex than it needs to be, don't they?

As for our league, I agree that it shouldn't be changed until the NHL finds an equal way of doing it. Probably through expansion a few years down the road.

I would say this if I was in the East or West, as I just found out an hour or so ago that, the realignment proposal had just been changed again.

NHL feels left out, NFL has the wildcard, MLB has the extra wild card, NBA has the top 3 teams are seeded 1-3 despite being division leader or not. NHL is just trying to complicate theirs now.

The CPHL was developed to follow the NHL as close as possible. I think it should follow suit if the league realigns.

its not so much of being as close as possible, it's also ensuring the sim can handle the format, which it probably can't at the present time.

as such I don't think expansion should happen...32 teams just seems weird (as of now).

but the different amount of teams in conferences is weird...

Yeah this is a good point, though I suspect the sim creator will update it to allow for replicating whatever the NHL structure is.

My main concern is having an unfair situation for our league.

Or we just leave things as is if we don't like what the NHL does.

Lots of options and we will discuss it with the league before making any decisions.

Im already in the toughest division so I don't care but I think we should follow the new setup. Here are some of the options presented so far:

A) Leave it as is
B) Follow new alignment, 2 new teams (Seattle and Vegas)
C) Follow new alignment, contract 2 teams (Colorado and Florida )
D) Follow new alignment and leave it at 30 teams

That covers it, anything else?

I wouldn't be a fan of contraction if you have no open slots to contract, just saying. Been in other leagues where there's a core of gm's and some that rotate, but find that if you have a solid group, it's better sticking with it than trying to add more teams, and we removed only when we couldn't get gm's to replace.

At least you should get more sim butts in the sim seats.
