Default Anyone win in the Foothills Hospital Home Lottery?

Enter your last name here:

For the first time ever, I won something! A 27" TV. Very exciting.

Nothing this time - I'm due, damnit!
I've entered this one and the Lougheed one every year for the last 6 years.

A family friend of mine actually won a house about 7 years ago! Anyways because she was a single women she didnt want to live alone in a big house, she sold it and made a killing, i dont know if id keep it or sell it if i had won, i guess it would all depend on the house, and if i was single married etc.

just wanted to also say that im not longer a farm team player and im a back up GOALIE! about time!

If you win the house, hold onto it for a year and live in it as your primary residence.

Besides the value going up in the hot market, you don't get dinged on capital gains like you would if you turn around and sold it right away.

That said, all these lottery houses are the same the last few years...Panorama Hills, or "on the ridge" (crappy obstructed view, way down in Cranston) for 1 million$.

I recall the FH lottery back about 5 years ago when you got as large a house, but it was in the new community of Elbow Valley....that, a Porsche, and 50,000$ was the "million dollar prize". That house is probably 3$ million at least now.

I thought the draw was sometime soon. Nope, didn't win. Was a nice house though...

A friend was talking to someone who won a lottery house recently and apparently you only get taxed on the proceeds of the sale over and above what the estimated value was. The rest is lottery winnings and not taxable.

Not that i think I'll ever need to apply the rule, but I found it interesting.

I know some of those home lotteries have had rules saying you couldn't sell it for one year after winning it. I'm not sure what the idea behind that would be.

I've won a digital camera and a really sweet grill. I enter every year as even if I don't win, the money goes to a good cause.

The only thing I've ever won was a Kitchenaid mixer, which was still pretty sweet. A senior exec at my company won a Porsche several years back. Talk about the rich getting richer.

Really ugly house this year. We saw it over the weekend. Liked the layout, just hated most of the fixtures/fittings (carpet, tile, lighting, etc).

We won a Discman one year - that should tell you how long ago that was, LOL. I want to say 2003?
