Why didn't we go for Brunner? Why doesn't Cervenka play like Brunner? why are we so unlucky? WHY?!

3 words: Detroit, Mike Babcock

Brunner has landed on a team that plays a style and system that works for him, rather than a system still being refined in Calgary. He also has arguably the best coach in the NHL running that team.

The BJs are dominating in quality chances...but...the 'Hawks score on just about their only good chance in the 2nd...Shaw from Bickell and Keith...1-0 about to go to the 2nd intermission

Shaw in my mind has come out of absolutely nowhere to be a Marchand-esque player.

Good to see the OOT again. Great weekend in the USA but the internet was not easily accessible so no Calgarypuck.

The good thing about being in the USA was that I was able to see the Bruins-Panthers on NHL Network USA (and in HD too ) this morning. The Bruins easily won 4-1.

The Lightning-Penguins game which Pittsburgh leads 3-0 is on NBCSN and TSN2.

Chicago wins again! They hang on to beat the BJs 1-0 in regulation time. Pittsburgh leads 4-2 after two periods. The Avalanche lead 3-2 over the Ducks in the second period.

At the UC, Shaw's goal is the only score in a wretchedly played game...the BJs must have gotten posts of flat-out missed 6 empty net corners...the team just can't finish. Mason was very good, covering up some terrible BJ turnovers. The 'Hawks weren't much better.

If their pattern holds, it will be another game against a team that the 'Hawks probably will play down to a lower level tommorrow, the Oil at the UC tommorrow night...as I recall, the 'Hawks really stunk it up against the Oil on a road trip, last season.

Since the 2010-2011 season Crosby has only played a season worth of games in that time frame. In those 82 games he has scored 49 goals and 82 assist (131 points). He could have had two straight Art Ross trophies if he played those games he missed.

And when he is playing he plays with Pascal Dupuis.

Of course Damian Brunner comes over to Detroit from the SWISS league, and rattles off 10 goals and 16 points in first 19 NHL games.

Figures.

So "Red Wing-esque"

It was a tale of two games, the Red Wings were playing hockey and god only knows what the Canucks were doing.

When you know the Oscars are on after the game, how can you even think of playing hockey?!

EDIT: Kesler wasn't even nominated for his role (roll) in the LA series last April!

There is some obvious rust but that is to be expected considering he hasn't been able to train for the better part of the year and getting into game shape and the timing is supposed to be difficult. I figure that it will take a few weeks for him to be back to his old self from an offensive and defensive perspective.

Selanne scores his 250th PP goal, and also ties up with Luc Robitaille on goal totals.

Wow, 8 goals against Luongo and 2 disallowed! Could have beaten his all time record of 9 for Luon9o
