C'mon guys, it's not like he called a press conference.
Probably he was chatting with a reporter and somehow the topic came up and he was like, "Uh, yeah, well, ya know, it's actually pronounced 'Jordano' but whatever."

At the end of the day Kevin Weeks still can't get it right.
He constantly calls him JERR-dano.

He can have his proper name when/if he is traded. Just like Lydman. Or Loodman?

If you let people mispronounce your name for 5 years then that's your fault. T-Bone can suck it! Koko all the way!

There is still a few more players that's names are butchered.
Cervenka was one until camp ended.
Cogliano is another one that comes to mind. G is silent. Battaglia was another one bob cole would butcher and has anyone heard mahr try to say Pietrangelo? Butcher.
Bertuzzi has also been pronounced wrong. Former flame goalie muzzatti as well.

What I took from this post is that Italian is pretty stupid.

Doesn't matter what his name is. Unless he gets a huge facelift to look like Michael Jordan, he still looks like and will always be remembered as Mr. Bean!

I could swear that in my Italian language classes, one of the pretty straightforward rules was that all the vowels are pronounced. And always pronounced the same. There shouldn't be a silent "I". Dude's pronouncing his name wrong.

You obviously weren't paying attention in your Italian language classes!

This is where you're wrong. Cogliano is pronounced correctly by pretty much everyone. The g is silent in Italian, but that doesn't apply here. The e and zz in Bertuzzi are pronounced differently in Italian, but again, that's not relevant here.
It's not up to you to tell Cogliano how to pronounce his name.

He probably didn't want to be a bother and bring it up before. But now that he's become more of an established player (and his especially older Italian relatives probably complain about it a lot), he figured he should let broadcasters know. That's what I'd assume anyway.
As someone who constantly has his last name mispronounced, I'm fine with it.

I think he should have done this when he WAS an established player....
