Oilers will get just enough points to keep them away from a franchise D.

Oilers game plan works to perfection. Keep the game close. Pray like hell for a powerplay to get it to OT or a shootout and win the circus sideshow. Also is there something written into the officials contracts this year that they MUST give the Oilers a power play in overtime?

Yeah IMO, the season is already done. 0% chance of getting into the playoffs. Wouldn't mind a 30 game tank here to secure a top 2 pick and pick Barkov/Jones.

Oh, you wouldn't mind to tank for a high pick?
I'm shocked by this.

From what I've seen from this team, they're going nowhere. Everyone's been healthy and they're playing like the Swiss National team. Difference between #1 pick and #4 is huge the past few years.

Ovechkin played RW today... The WSH announcers made it seem he's been playing there for a while... Anyone know how long??

I believe it was only his first or second game on RW

The Swiss national team has a little grit though usually. I suspect the Oilers will finish in 10th place and hopefully grab Michel Riesen's little brother.

Dion Phaneuf is so damn terrible. Always loses the puck and board battles.

Wish we had a player like Hopkins. Him and Iginla would be a thing to watch.

Excellent Coach's Corner.
I like Don Cherry 90% of the time, which is a good record when you consider all the blowhards on television these days.

Compare that to the other three, where countless athletes have been busted for drugs, or have failed many drug tests.
He of course showed some little hockey playing kids wearing ties, and said it all starts there (which is probably true).
It makes you wonder why the NHL isn't more popular South of boarder. If the media loves interviewing NHL players so much, how come you never see them doing interviews with PTI and the like?

I'm not stereotyping Americans as it definitely applies to Canadians as well, but drama, especially drama that includes crime and drugs, appeals to people. Which is why reality shows are just so damn popular. And is part of the reason why people are drawn to sports other than hockey, because people are always doing stupid ####, and they find that entertaining. Not to mention in places like Texas where football is like hockey to us up north.

What a selfish and classless goal celebration by Galchenyuk, skates away from teammates and all.
