What the hell would you even do on Hickory Ridge? Not a whole ton of room.
I looked it up, it has very high amount of ore and a good amount of coal. You have to build switchbacks up the cliff face from the highway to the plateau on top to build. So you could do a resource city.
However, it also has very high residential desirability due to it looking out over the whole region, so you could build a high wealth, high density residential city in the small area on top of the plateau too.
Looking here: http://www.mapmyrun.com/s/routes/vie...-rock/49186086 suggests that street has a max incline of about 45% grade... which is only about 23 degrees, which is still nowhere near 45 degrees. 45 degrees is terrain for cable cars, notched railways, funiculars etc., not roads.

where do you see anything in that video that suggests 45 degrees? i just watched it, and the grade didn't seem that abnormal to me
In the developer interview video a couple days ago, they were playing a city were freeways would decline at 45 degree angles, if not more. Also paths going down cliffs were easily 45 degrees. It's like the car is about to crash while going down the hill, and then it magically continues on its way.
It's really not a big deal, because I'll make it so my roads never do that, but I'd like it if the game already knew that it's nonsense.

edit: huge pictures
Spoiler!
Ahh yeah that looks like a bug. Probably will be fixed at some point. They were having issues with some things like that a month or so ago.

Sorry man, looks like the code expired. Didn't last long!
At this particular moment it looks like the best deal is actually on Origin where you get a $20 off coupon for a future purchase if you pre-order.
Probably will be another deal pop up before release I would imagine.
Just a heads up but the promotional code for amazon.com CAGROCKS ($15 off) seems to be working again. If you just put down an American address you can still use a canadian credit card to pre-purchase it.

Playing SimCity 4, I'm having trouble with residential buildings being abandoned due to commute time (accross all wealth levels). I've also got some of my industrial zones that don't show any commuters when route queried. I tried connecting them with subway and still no change. Did I simply build my industrial and my residential too far apart, such that my residents aren't filling available jobs?
I am still having a hard time convincing myself that density should be alone based on the type of street.
There is plenty of high density buildings in the Calgary beltline that dont have 4 or 6 lane roads attached to them.
