Hopefully he can bring grit and attitude, but i am not holding my breath that he gets any goals.

Aliu and Horak have nothing to do with one another.

Jones (4th liner) got sent down for Aliu (4th liner).

Horak (top9) got sent down for Baertschi (top 9).

No kidding. Aliu is not an NHL player. Horak is clearly an NHL player who can play at a position of weakness on the team...with room to grow.

Doesn't make any sense to me.

These are not posts that add anything to this discussion. They are awful posts.

All those threads have become, and this thread too, a bunch of posters patting each other on the back in anger. No value, nothing to be gained. No discussion.

"They Flames sure suck, eh!?"
There is nothing to be gained, IMHO, from a bunch of posters coming in once every 3 games and proclaiming that the Flames are back on track, that they are making the playoffs and that Brent Sutter was to blame for all the teams ills and this one win out of every 3 games is definitive proof of that.

This franchise makes a mockery of itself, it does not need posters on a message board to do that for them. As for the move, it probably does not matter at the end of the day, Aliu is neither going to harm the team nor help them in my opinion. Sending Horak down does not make a lot of sense to me though, I would rather have had them place Comeau or Babchuk on waivers. The more disturbing thing is what do the Flames do when Sven and eventually Backlund come off LTR. Once Sven is back, I have a feeling Roman will have a very hard time making it back up to the big club, which I feel is unfortunate given the piss poor contributions from Comeau and Smith and Babchuk. I would rather have Horak playing NHL minutes than any of those 3.

Anyways, Horak will be back with the team... especially if a vast majority of the posters here get their wish and their is a fire sale.

Horak down there must mean Sven is ready and I've got no problem with Ali getting another shot for a couple of games. He played well at the end of last season and we might as well see if he's worth keeping once the seasons over.
It is the grit that we have that is the problem. We upgraded our skill (Hudler over Jokinen, Cervenka over Moss). Problem is we brought back the same grit and did not upgrade. Bringing back Jackman and signing Begin is an insult to our intelligence, considering what has been available on the free agent market, trade and waivers. Had we not signed Jackman/Begin/Jones we could have picked up McCormick, Kassian and Tyrell. What energy line brings more energy of the two?

There's discussion going on, it's just not the discussion you want it to be.
There's a place for everything on this forum. There are at least 10 threads on the first page to discuss how much people hate the players or management or owners. It's not like the Flame just traded their first pick for Clutterbuck.

Now, on Aliu, he made the most of his opportunity last year. He's not an offensive player, he hasn't been spectacular in the AHL this year, but what's the risk? Maybe he has an extra gear for a couple games with the Flames, maybe he draws a few penalties, throws a couple hits.

What's the worse that can happen?

This forum erupts when we pick up backup goaltenders off waivers, or re-assign/recall minor league players. I can't imagine what's going to happen when Feaster makes a trade. I can already predict that you won't be happy.

Wideman's an upgrade on Hannan, I'll give you that.

I think Hudler and Cervenka are upgrades on Moss and Jokinen. Moss is an injury prone 3rd line winger and Jokinen is an aging center. I would rather have Hudler at this stage than Jokinen and they make around the same money. Cervenka is still adapting to the NA game so he gets a bit of a pass.

Hudler has 10pts in 12 games
Cervenka has 6pts in 12 games

Jokinen has 4pts in 15 games
Moss has 8pts in 16 games.

Moss and Cervenka have the same ppg right now and Hudler is crushing Jokinen in that stat. I would rather have our Czechs. Olli didn't work here, sure we need centers but that is on Feaster for not finding another center and in turn resigning guys like Comeau and Stempniak. I guess the scouting staff didn't take into account that Cervenka might struggle at center in the NHL.

Earlier in the year Aliu had ankle surgery, he has been awhile getting his game back but it is coming. When he is on the ice he is an a-hole and he bugs the hell out of the other team. His attitude has drawn many penalties and put some players off their game. Also he will fight if he has too, to change up the tempo of a game, but tries to pick the right times. I have seen many games where people flat out refuse to fight him, because he goes a little wild when he fights.

Really excited to see what Aliu can do for the Flames.

I think he'll look really good on the left wing of Begin and Jackman, stirring up trouble, getting charging penalties, being a punching bag.

Horak's time with the club was up. 2 points in 6 games playing less than 10 minutes of solid positional hockey?

That's just not good enough to stick on this Flames roster. You've gotta be producing if you want to make this club, not lolly-gagging around. If he was playing well, Hartley would play him, the ball is in Horak's court about whether he wants to be a Calgary Flame or not.

Hopefully Troy Ward can straighten him out down in the minors. Kid needs a lot of work if he's ever going to play in the NHL.

Yep, meritocracy this year and I for one really like it. No room for passengers on this Flames team. You're either contributing or you're not on the ice.

Looking forward to 2 minutes of Fury from Aliu next game.

This up and down stuff must be the only thing Hartley and Feaster can do.

I seem to remember Hartley doing this when he was coaching the AVS whenever the team was slumping.

The funny story I heard was Colorados affiliate at the time was in Hershey so Hartley would come into the locker room all pissed off and say "boy its beginning to smell allot like chocolate in here" and next thing you knew guys were either sitting and guys were being called up.

I Hear and know were lucky to have Troy Ward as our coach in Abby so no doubt whoever comes up will be ready....i just hope they figure things out soon.

Horak and other more deserving players get disenchanted.

You cant just PICK UP Kassian. Vancouver traded a top prospect to get him.

That's a valid point, but obviously some, maybe even many, will disagree with you. It's still discussion, regardless, except for one or two one-liners, it's just discussion where the majority opinion seems to be counter to your own.

But Horak is not a bottom 6 player and should not be played in that role.

Aliu isn't coming up to replace Horak. He's replacing Jones, Jackman, etc.

Let's not forget that Horak has something like 3 points in his last 20 games in the AHL.

He's talking about the bigger, stupider, worse hockey player Kassian.
