To be fair yes he has. Wideman and Hudler are upgrades at F and D and MacDonald is the best backup we've had. But he has downgraded C and toughness as a result.

Akim Aliu?
He is not an NHL player. He is not a borderline NHL player. He is a borderline AHL player.
Sending down a bonafide NHLer for an AHL agitator?
Dumbdumbdumbdumbdumb.

They're all being checked by the new coach. More of Hartley probably asking to see these players.
Horak is the easiest to move up and down. Relax people. Aliu can be an NHLer, had the potential and is driven. Seems like a guy who'll be a better NHLer then an AHLer.

I would say the best choice is to probably have neither of them on the team but if you are going to bring Aliu for toughness then I would say yes it would be worth the effort to get McCormick.
I think what would make more sense is to bring up a guy like Bancks or leave Horak and talk to Jackman, Begin, Glencross, Gio and let them know that the toughness needs to be ramped up in their games.

Are they really, though?
Are Hudler and cervenka upgrades on Moss and Jokinen? I don't think so.
Wideman's an upgrade on Hannan, I'll give you that.

Why do you think that?
He is a guy that has struggled when facing challenges on and off the ice, a guy that has been dealt and just released from multiple organizations and a guy that even when given a "last chance" by the Heat still seems to have trouble staying consistent at the AHL level.
Seems to me a guy that struggles to stay consistent at a lower level of hockey is going to have more trouble when facing tougher opponents and a much higher level of skill.

Also if you think players like Horak/Jones/Aliu etc are game changers then you're out to lunch, problem is much bigger then that. This is all about Hartley wanting to see whats down there.

FW has at least 300 posts on this forum that include the words "Rock Solid Plan" in an attempt to mock the franchise.
These are not posts that add anything to this discussion. They are awful posts.
All those threads have become, and this thread too, a bunch of posters patting each other on the back in anger. No value, nothing to be gained. No discussion.
"The Flames sure suck, eh!?"

I could be wrong, but I think the concern is Horak is playing well and is getting demoted. Akim Aliu is a healthy scratch this year (?confirm?) and is getting promoted instead. And Horak is a prospects, Aliu is a tweener.

Lets just hope for all that is good and right in the universe that Stajan does not go down with an injury.

Was going to say the same thing.
Lots of posters hated how we were all grit and no skill last year... well, now we have a team with all "skill" and barely any grit and now we want more grit.
Anyways, Horak will be back with the team... especially if a vast majority of the posters here get their wish and their is a fire sale.
Horak down there must mean Sven is ready and I've got no problem with Ali getting another shot for a couple of games. He played well at the end of last season and we might as well see if he's worth keeping once the seasons over.

I liked what I saw from him in few games last year, he got hurt this year as well. consistency is always an issue with young players so he's no different.
Case of where at a lower level he's being asked to do more then he's capable of, bring him up here and he knows he's only playing 8-10 mins a game and this is the biggest stage so he better give it all every game. Just my opinion.

I like having Aliu up...he brings attitude and grit. As evidence last year he can put the puck in the net too.

Discuss the topic at hand, if you want to discuss the GM or the team in general use or start an appropriate thread. If you just want to whine about things in general, get a blog.

Yes, I realize what his angle is, and it is pretty dumb to think that a single transaction is going to devastate the morale in Abby. Especially on a team that has already seen Street and Taylor earn reward call-ups for excelling in Abbotsford. The argument is a ridiculous reach.
And we all know Horak will be back. Hopefully for good next time.

What, exactly, would you prefer people were saying? 50 posts of line-ups, with Akim on different lines?
There's discussion going on, it's just not the discussion you want it to be.

Wtf did Jones do??? Call Feaster a fatass? Truth hurts Jay. Absolutely insane when we keep getting killed in the faceoffs and we send down Jones who was our best FO man.
From the Sun after he was waived "Looking at the rest of the club’s centres, Jones is the biggest and most successful on the faceoff dot, with a 59.4% winning percentage on the draws."
I'm so pissed at this team right now it's not even funny.
