That'd be fine if they were rebuilding, but they're paying almost $80M in salary for their current roster and have one of the worst groups of centers in the league.

There are two sides to the game and Hodgson has been on the ice for more 5 on 5 GA than anyone in the league including defensemen.
Hodgson's point totals are good, but you can't discount Vanek's torrid pace to start the year. Hodgson has produced virtually nothing when not playing with Vanek (1 GF and 8 GA when not on Vanek's line), so I'd take his numbers with a grain of salt given Vanek's 135 point pace.
He'll probably improve as time goes on, but the fact that he's their #1 center says a lot about their (lack of) depth.

No confirmations yet but hearing Ron Rolston (coaching Rochester in AHL) as possible and perhaps likely replacement in BUF.

What the connection you know about?
"cool story bro" - I was friends with a family relative of Lindy Ruff the day he was hired in Buffalo. Crazy to think he was hired by Buffalo in Iginla's rookie season.

Works for me, Darryl is a great coach but a horrible GM.

Pommenville said it is too bad the players played poorly and he lost his job over it
Vanek said Ruff is best free agent out there and whomever signs him gets a great coach
And then......
Miller says it was time for a new voice.
Man does Miller rub me the wrong way.

He would be well served to learn some diplomacy. Especially surprising after Ruff even supported his jackass remarks calling out his team.

Defensively he's just not ready to shoulder the load he has been ask to take on.
After him they have a converted winger in Ennis who is, what, a year older than Hodgson and also does not have the necessary two-way game. For most part, gone are the times where teams had one dimensional centers on their top two lines and the Sabres have them on both those lines.
After those two it's a raw rookie in Grigorenko. They are weak down the middle.
|
With the talent the Sabres have down the middle, I wouldn't exactly say they are weak down the middle, but rather they are inexperienced. By the way, I think Ennis is actually a natural center who began his pro career as a winger. He's less of a converted winger than Tanguay at this point.
