It's not the detail of things that need to improve, it's the scale of events that I hope increases in the next-gen. There are so many games out there that are supposed to give you this epic feeling and then there's a maximum of 10 bad guys on screen. I always wanted to play games with thousands of characters on screen at once all with AI that thinks individually, that's where games need to go. Take a game like Skyrim, there should be giant battles of orcs vs. humans on the planes or an entire batallion is standing on the doorstep of a dragon to confront him. I wanna see games where the gameplay looks like the trailer, imagine this scale of gameplay
Not just graphics then. I loved the idea of epic multiplayer fps. PS3 had one I played quite a bit called MAG, where there were two teams of like 124 players each I think. One side attacking, one defending. The objectives for winning control of the objective were complex. There were mortars for the defenders, which could be attacked, etc. In order to get to the control centres you had to take control of all of the shield generators, then storm in to the center. As defenders you could regain control of the shields. There were tanks and armoured carriers which acted as spawn points for the attackers and could be destroyed by the defenders which would cause the to return to the original base.
Basically, the mission was simple, but required coordinated assaults on complex targets. There was a general who oversaw 4 leaders who each had 4 leaders with their own squads. The general or whatever could fire the mortars and such things. The leadership roles were chosen by some sort of combination of rank, leadership experience and randomness if I recall correctly.
The big downfall was the terrible graphics and lag. You could sniper someone, but you would have to lead them by a lot. If it wasn't for that I'd likely still be playing. The idea seems so awesome to me.
Secondly, you singled out EA, but then go on to bang drums against CoD, which is published by Activision. You need to focus your argument. EA was the company that made huge losses on SWTOR, which by the way failed not because of microtransactions, but because Bioware had 0 idea how to properly implement end-game content and PvP.
Gabe Amatangelo was an EA company man. EA has a wonderful track record of instilling their own worthless shills and killing off any hope an MMO has of succeeding. This one wasn't a Bioware fail.

I'll believe it when Bioware starts releasing above average games again, which they haven't since Mass Effect 2.
The picture Hemi-Cuda posted isn't real. Even PC snobs can't be that daft.
Like Russic said, if you can prove it is legit then I'll eat my words, but I've seen the best PC's can do with a heavily modded GTA IV and they're not that good.
Take a close look at the street lights. The tops are supposed to be curved so the light points down at the street, but you can see they are actually a bunch of straight lines made to look like a curve. Computer generated 3D gaming is still incapable of generating actual curves. You can also tell that the "meat" hanging in the window of the corner butcher is computer generated and look completely 2D.
I can't prove it's real, but I am fairly certain it is.

well considering all the buildings match up perfectly, and Liberty City is a fictional city not based on any real city, that kinda proves the authenticity
If what we're hearing about the controller is true and they don't do something stupid (like make the sticks and triggers similar to the current controllers), then things should be cool. Remember the first controllers we saw for the PS3 was the boomerang design, which was ultimately thrown out.
Xbox has the best joysticks. They need to use those.
I agree. I prefer them offset, but to me the bigger selling point is the lack of craptacular nubbins. The fact that Sony has kept them through 3 generations is the only thing more amazing than "nubbins" being a real word.
Dang the awkward time between when I leave work and get home!
That's actually a good point.
I wonder why they chose such an awkward time? If you get something announced at an Apple event, it is always early in the day so people can waste time at work talking about it.
It's almost like they are trying to hide it by doing it during people's commute.

6pm Eastern...They want all the kids to be home from school and done their homework, then they can watch it and tell their parents how much they need the new console.

Event is in New York, that's 6PM local time. I'm actually quite grateful it wasn't during midday, so I didn't have to take a day off from work for it.
