She was walking around looking for him back at the homestead.

My guess is #### was just getting too crazy. Zombies were all around. Not only were they coming from the van, but they were being drawn in by the noise from the woods. They'd also lost their man in the tower.
Better to retreat, hope the zombies kill off a few, which they would have if Darryl and Merle not showed up, and finish off the survivors later.

I hate to join in on this, cause I'm the one always telling people to chill out, it's just a TV show...but I had trouble with the shooting last night as well.
So many bullets, so few hit. I think it could have been choreographed a bit better so that people were actually behind cover, therefore making extended firefight make sense. The dude up in the tower was just standing out in the open, in clear view of Maggie for a good solid minute. I don't know what was worse: that she couldn't hit him as such an easy target, or that he was stupid enough to just stand up there and let her try.
Would it be too cliche to have Andrea turn on the Governor in the finale? Or will Glenn get his revenge? Or since this is the Rick show after all, does he get all the glory? Maybe Merle will redeem himself with a kamikaze takedown on the Governor, all to save his brother? So many choices, I don't know who to vote for.

That scene on the bridge with Darryl showing off his Zombie killing skills with outstanding.
That was a first, Zombie kill by hatchback!
I wish they would have Rick get his s### together. Hopefully that story line of going on the crazy train is over.
I wonder if he is going to come to his senses and let the people they have locked up join the group. They are going to need the numbers.

or that nobody in Ricks camp used the site on their automatics?
All of them firing random shots with out aiming.
Minor oversite but none the less it didn't make much sense since they are all crack shots especially head shots with pistols.
Now they finally have precise weapons and they all are suddenly terrible shots.

For me that's what kept it from being a great episode. I kept waiting for them to appear or to be mentioned in the story line, but it felt like they just forgot about them. I know there was a lot going on, but just any sort of mention would have left me satisfied.

I'll echo the feelings on the gun fight.

Same here, thought when Carol was asking him if he didn't miss his brother he was going to be like "what brother?" Revealing he was a lying psychopath, afterall he was in prison hanging with the murderers. Instead he gets got.

While I'd hate for her to become the next Lori, I think it's understandable. She's dealing with the deaths of a lot of loved ones, her sister attempted suicide, her father lost his leg after nearly losing his life, now she's captured while hearing her boyfriend brutally beaten and nearly killed while her capture makes her strip and believes she's going to be raped. If she wants to project some of that built up anger and hatred onto Glenn, I think it's reasonable if not fair.

I'm ok with the gunfight... I imagine its pretty unnerving to actually be shot back at.

Also, despite the fact the they were somewhat in the open, the gun fighters were taking steps to avoid being hit. Where a zombie just stands there. From my paintballing experience (yes I am bad ass), it's much harder to hit opponents that are duckign and diving behind a tree or a small hill than it is to hit an opponent that lets you line up a shot.

Your points are valid, but in the shoot out on the street while save Glenn and Maggie, they took aimed shots and didn't blindly shoot.

After the last 2 big gunfights between these two groups, I've accepted that everyone's got bad aim and/or is exceptionally (un)lucky. but then you've got the Governer spending whole clips just shooting in the air Rambo style for fun. is ammunition not scarce, or have they managed to ambush and kill so many national guard units that they don't have anything better to do with those bullets?

Total difference between surprising someone and being surprised.
Street shoot out they had the upper hand, had surprise and time to pick there shots.
Getting ambushed with 3 different positions firing on you, would be way different. If Maggie takes 1/2 a second to line up tower person, for all she knows it wold be all the time for the governer needs to line her up. Total chaos.
Think about it... You're standing there all relaxed, then all of a sudden people around you are dying and bullets are coming from everywhere. I think it's more far fetched that someone never #### themselves....

Obviously they exaggerated the gun fight for dramatic effect and plot purposes. I let it slide. When there's also 40 zombies on screen, accuracy during a gun fight is the least of my concerns with realism.

Also to add onto my points, you have the adrenaline vs fear issue. One shoot out had then amped up to rescue their friends, the other they had zero time to mentally prepare.

That bugged me a bit as well. Isn't the entrance to the tower located inside the prison? That would mean the tower person either made it in through the locked gate; or snuck in through the part of the prison that they said was over run.

The only thing that bothered me about the gun fight was that Rick had the element of surprise, as they didn't know he was outside the fence. He could've flanked them or taken better aim and at least killed some cannon fodder.
It's definitely different shooting shuffling zombies that don't shoot back than exchanging gun fire.
