Very true. I have noticed this as well. When Kipper was in net this season you could tell that he wasn't playing top notch. I believe if we can get the goalie situation we're in right now figured out we'll have 2nd round+ playoff team.

Just a fourth liner I know, but he's young, has size, speed, grit, a small cap hit, plays center and is turning into a decent face off guy.

I was thinking this evening that maybe the move was done to give Jones a kick in the arse and a wake up call. Could be that Feaster knew he wasn't going to be claimed. In the end it looks like the waiver move shook him up and got him to realise he should be better. It will be interesting to see how he plays going forward.

Nice to see the home squadron make a comeback.
Anyone know where McDonald ranks in the all time wins by a flames goalie category?

Maybe, but when the coach can't really put into words what or how Jones could improve, makes you think there's more behind the scenes stuff than anything else.

Can't envision a scenario where this happens. Think Feaster is probably working the phones to move him. Checked Capgeek and there are teams with one-way salary in the minors so we should be able to make a lateral deal if he needs to get out of town stat. Too bad we signed him to a 2 year deal as that could limit his market as some teams might balk at the length.

looking at that list of goalies, makes me think Trevor Kidd wasn't as terrible as I remembered. I must be getting old.
Only goalies with winning records as a Flame
Kiprusoff
Vernon
Bouchard
Lemelin
Kidd
Wamsley
Riggin
Reese
Joseph
Toskala
Guenette
42 goalies and that's the only 11 with a winning record......... wow

The Flames need to find a new goalie every time they play Dallas to continue the trend started with Freddie Brathwaite.

Does that not sort of make sense? 7 year drought with no playoffs? But for the most part werent Bouchard,Lemelin,Vernon,Kidd,Kiprusoff. The starters for the majority of the flames existence? Which would mean everyone else is basically backups?

When you put it that way, makes sense. Just, at first glance, hard to see a list with so many bad goalies come and go.

The best goalies in the league are within the age range of 31-35.
IMO, I wouldn't mind seeing a Kipper for Luongo trade go down. He's younger, and needs a change up in his career. I think with a team like the Flames playing in front of him it be a solid team. I know he has what it takes, and Vancouver isn't providing him the opportunity.
I'd like to see Kipper for Luongo NS, and have Feaster sign him for 2 years.

Both teams are in such a different boat now. It would still be a big deal, but surely not a jaw-dropper.

Great comeback win. Shocked to see Comeau's "skate around the world" amount to something.
Hopefully this gets them on a roll.

Except when you acquire a player through a trade, you also acquire his remaining contract term. In Loungo's case it would be whatever is left on his decade long, monster size deal. You don't get to just drop that and then make it 2 years. If that were the case, there might be less hesitation on teams to make a move for him.
