I don't think the waiving of Jones in and of itself is anything to cause me to flip my lid like some have, but these quotes coming out of the organization are pretty bizarre. They're either half-truths or they're just flailing around in the dark.

I don't like Comeau either, but these are marginal NHL players. I have no clue how Comeau ever scored a goal in the NHL let alone 20 in a season.

Well, those who want the Flames to pick top 5 are getting their way with Comeau on the top line.

They want to waive guys - fine. But to follow it up with flip comments is frustrating. Tell us what Blair needs to work on instead of nebulous comments that don't mean jack.
Not a fan of using waivers as a motivation tool - reflects badly as an organization.

The problem is that the same braintrust that is confusing the #### out of us right now would be making that pick. They'll probably trade it down to recoup their second.

I don't think they would trade down from a top 10 pick.
Feaster picked Baertschi, Gaudreau, Brossoit... I have faith here at the least.

I love how one single waiver movement can cause the entire management group to be so hated and despised.
Forget all of the good things Feaster and co. have done since he got here. Forget the fact that we may not have Sven or Gaudreau if it weren't for them. Forget the fact that we may not have Hudler, Wideman and Cervenka keeping us somewhat entertained during this miserable season. Forget the fact that he got that bum Bourque out of town for a heart and soul leader in Cammalleri (plus perhaps the best KHL goalie). I could go on about good things they've done.
But I guess people have a short memory.

Not to discredit any of those moves, but the end result is shaping up to be another year on the outside looking in. Fans have a right to question a "win now" management team in what is likely year 4 of a playoff drought.
The results are what matter.

I read that quote as Hartley saying Jones hasn't done everything asked of him. I brought it up earlier but was ignored when I said it, so I will say it again.....
After the 5th Blues goal it looked like Comeau was trying to egg a couple guys into fighting him (with those patented Iggy cross checks to a guys elbow area when he wants to go), I never saw Jones do anything of the sort and Hartley is the type of coach that is known to let his players get a little chippy in the name of shifting momentum back in their favor. This quote leads me to think this even more strongly.
As for Comeau, frustrating or not, he has been creating chances and he has been around the net, he has been working very hard and doing everything asked of him. The only thing he hasn't done is bury the puck.

Is it a good post, or is it the rosey observations of a poster looking on the bright side of what can only be described as a disastrous season that was more or less entirely predictable from the outset?
We're supposed to hang our hat on Dennis Wideman? Is Dennis Wideman making a 6-3 blowout at the hands of the 13th place team any better?
Perhaps the best goalie in the KHL? A Heart and Soul leader like Cammalleri?
Will the hyperbole ever end?

Ok so you want the team to go from 9th place to Stanley Cup champions in 1 year. Thank god you don't have unreal expectations.

Getting a top 5 pick because your management team is incompetent is not a good way to go rebuilding a team.

Comeau has been the recipient of chances.
This is vastly different than generating chances.

If Cammalleri and Wideman don't help the Flames make the playoffs, they are at least good assets that can be traded.

Do you and Bertuzzied want to pool your money on a wager for Wideman being dealt?
