|
The first time Tanguay was acquired, that summer Sutter made innuendos about moving him to the middle. Then the first day of training camp Tanguay gets asked about it in an interview and he basically said he was not interested and it wouldn't work. He never ended up playing any center that year.
On one hand they have been very unlucky with injuries (Cervenka and Backlund) but this is undoubtedly a poorly constructed team. Feaster's moves have pretty much worked very well to this point (Wideman, Hudler, Cervenka, Stempniak) but there is not only no depth down the middle, this team is no longer even shallow there. If Jones is picked up, that leaves a grand total of one experienced NHL center on the active roster. That is completely unacceptable whether the team is rebuilding or not.

Cleared Waivers according to Roger. Doesn't make sense that he was waived in the first place.

This was rumoured under BS as well.

A better way to communicate a message would be a phone call, rather than ####ing with a person trying to keep his job.

Oy, my point is you can find official "transactions" from teams posted on sites like TSN, NHL.com etc. stating that a player was "waived" or "put on waivers". Just saying, I have yet to read anything other than reports from twitter accounts or blogs. Not saying they aren't correct, but I'm just confused as to why I can't find anything official?
And yes, teams often (read as ALWAYS) release the fact that a player is on waivers...try again.

maybe it's the same situation as with Karlsson when the Blackhawks only traded for him after he cleared waivers.

Just because the Flames haven't communicated their reason to the media doesn't mean they haven't communicated it to Jones.
What is more important?

If a team could assign him to the AHL I could see him getting picked up but as such...

Why isn't he playing on the 1st line? Comeau will probably be booted off of it before the 40 minute mark tonight. Or, Stajan could take the 1st line role, while Jones plays in between the Czechs.

Iginla gets the second or third most sheltered minutes on the Roster.
The fact is, Calgary doesn't have a 'power' to go against the 'power' of the opposition. The closest thing to it is Hudler/Stajan/Cervenka and you'd probably be laughed out of the dome if you called them a 'power' combination.
Last year Jokinen matched up against teams top lines and did ok. Him and Glencross performed admirably in the "top-line-is-also-the-shutdown-line" mentality.
This year, there isn't even a Jokinen to be a defensive brightspot and it's freakin' brutally apparent every time the flames get hemmed into their zone.

Nope. Tim Connolly was put on waivers in January, for instance. Find me an official Toronto Maple Leafs release about it.

Hmmm, so what now I wonder?
Sent to Abbotsford?
Traded?
Status quo?

If Feaster was doing this just to free up a contract spot, i wonder if he will try Begin, Comeau or Jackman next?

Now we can put Jones on the wing on the fourth line and put Comeau at Center with Iginla on the first line for no apparent reason?

My guess is status quo. Won't be surprised if he is in the line up in the next 2 games.
