Well, doesnt matter really. Unless your name is Kipprusoff (although how did that go for the team the first week?) Luongo, Lunqvuist, Price or Rinne this team is shaping up to be taking a licking this season. Might as well play along. It won't be getting better any time soon.

Great, two freebie goaltenders. Sounds promising.

I don't think Taylor or MacDonald can do any worse. None of the game Irving played were won due to goaltending.

Feaster says this is just a part of the evaluation process for their goalies. Can't the guy just call a spade a spade?
Irving let 2-goals in on 4-shots and was pulled. If he played well last night we aren't having this conversation.
I can't respect someone that preaches honesty but continues to shovel this load of BS at us. It is insulting that he thinks we are collectively that stupid. And it totally ruins his credibility when he is speaking about other issues.
The lawyer act is running thin.

Wow, I'm not happy with Irving's play and expected him to get sent down eventually but not until Kipper came back.

He's better than Irving in the AHL so why not try him. That is the definition of meritocracy.

Because we are playing in the NHL and he hasn't been good enough for a contract until Kipper got hurt and they need a guy quick so not exactly a ringing endorsement for Taylor's ability.

I hope this means we will get to see Taylor play some minutes.
I'm intrigued to see if he can carry that intensity and success over into the big show. He's certainly earned the chance to prove himself.

I think at this point the Flames needed to see something from Irving and they just didn't see enough in the shortened season. Hopefully he gets some playing time in Abby. My guess is they are going to evaluate the next two guys and if needed make changes, decisions to solidify that spot when Kipper gets back.

I'm not sure what happened to Irving's confidence, but he looked much more steady in relief last year than this one. He's been making the saves he should make for the most part, but the way he's made them has not inspired much confidence. Could be a result of not playing regularly coming into this season, or maybe something else is going on. Whatever it is, we've seen the guy can be a good goalie, but psychologically he's just not at his best at the moment - too scrambly and erratic.
I actually like the idea of giving Taylor a shot. The guy seems to have earned his chance down on the farm, and if he'd been a former high round prospect for the Flames would have got his look in much earlier. At this juncture, I just don't know what harm it could do.

It's really unfortunate that Irving only now broke out some new pads...

“When we claimed Joey MacDonald off waivers we did so with the expectation that he would play games for us,” said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. “Now that he has seen some game action we intend to use him more. By sending Leland to Abbotsford at this time he does not require waivers. We want Leland to go down and work on sharpening his game. At the same time this enables us to continue to evaluate Danny Taylor at the NHL level. Given Kipper’s injury we are undergoing a process of evaluating our other goaltenders and this assignment of Leland and subsequent recall of Danny is in furtherance of that evaluation process.”

I don't have a problem giving Taylor a look. I think he will play Monday then depending on his play we could see he and Irving flip-flop again for Wednesday's game.

On a personal level, I'm extremely excited for Taylor. I hope to God that Hartley gives him a start.
As for Irving, I feel bad for him as I don't think yesterday was any fault of his, but hey, maybe Taylor will surprise.

Joey Mac was also cold coming of the bench into that #### show of a first period...give the guy a start...hopefully someone earns the backup role. Irving fell ass backwards into the role
