I hate to be the one to break this to you, but this team is not a winning team even with Kipper in net.
Not that hard to grasp. Nor should it be surprising (yet some people continue to believe a new system will fix the same broken, uninterested team). Hey, I applaud your optimism.

I have seen some bright spots. The PP looks good and they activate the point shot now. I think they would of probably been in the playoff mix with Backlund and Bart and Kipper having an average season. Hudler and Wideman have made a massive difference on this team imo. Who knows maybe Feaster pulls off another wizard signing and this team is back to being 6-8 seed again. I'm actually surprised how much those 2 alone have improved the look of the offence. Maybe trade off Iggy for a semi proven C prospect and 1st rndr and hope for a break out season next year.

Next game Smith needs to sit and Babchuk should be paired with Sarich.

Don't get me wrong, this team is much more fun to watch than the last few years and I have loved the additions of Wideman (one of the best signings of the year league wide) and Hudler and what they have brought to the team but at the end of the day results are what matter. Despite the better PP and higher scoring offense, the wins and point's are just not coming quickly enough. As a few of the posters above have hinted at, if Calgary remains on par they will finish with a very abysmal point total this year. The one plus side is this year's draft is expected to be very good, however this offers me little comfort as I'm not a fan of teams being awful for a high pick.
I'm all for trading Iggy (will kill me to see him go, even tho it really needs to happen) if the deal is to be had but I would be ecstatic with a solid, proven C prospect alone, I think it's pretty unrealistic to expect a 1st rounder on top of that for a 36 year old Iginla.

Two horrible giveaways by Wideman and Irving overreacting to the move on the first goal had them down, but if Brodie would have buried that shot I think it could very well have been a different and competitive game. The Blues got a couple of fortunate bounces and the Flames got none, then Gio took a dumb penalty and Macdonald let in a wrist shot from the top of the circle with no screen right after the Flames got back into it.
Goaltending let them down tonight and Wideman only got back one goal of the two he owed the team. Calgary outplayed them for the last 40 minutes but it doesn't mean much when one team has a huge lead and isn't trying to score anymore.
All in all, it was a missed opportunity at points that they need, but I don't think this is a game worth thinking much about. Who the hell is in charge of the penalty kill!?

Then why are you on here, bro? Go be miserable.
Kind of a waste of life to just be on here stuffing a pillow on every flicker of optimism. That's a pretty sad hobby, if so.
And besides, you're completely misinterpreting
I'm saying that the current system requires Kiprusoff (to work adequately)
Not that Kiprusoff automatically makes them a contender/playoff team.
Never said that.
If they were that kind of team, they wouldn't need him like they currently do.

That's a very slow bottom pairing D.

Smith and Comeau are AHL players.
Besides them, some AHL goaltending, and some bad luck, I thought the team played pretty well.

Sounds good to me. I think two first rounders from this draft (one from trading Iggy) and a blue chip prospect. Landing a guy with our high pick that could play next year like Lindholm/ Monahen/ Mckinnon plus Backlund and Bart managing to not get injured for once and I think the team will actually look really good. I think we are starting to have peices that can make a winning team. Not sure about the defensive side or goal-tending though.

I didnt believe the flames played a decent game, but i have every right to blame the referees for their inconsistency.

Ignoring the rest of your post as I really don't care nor do I agree with a single thing you've said tonight so I see no point in further discussion.
I will say that I am not your "bro" so you know, you could figure out something else to say or simply say nothing at all. Secondly I'm not miserable, if anything I'm annoyed that my team **** the bed tonight in a very important game. I'm here because I enjoy discussion about my team, despite what you believe not all discussion on the Flames has to be positive, when the team plays awful most posters will call it like it is, I'm sorry if you see this as a "waste of life".
Be optimistic all you like, don't get surprised or defensive when some of the posters that have been around for awhile and are tired of the same old song and dance poke a little fun at a post that looks like it was written by Ken King or Feaster addressing the media.
I'm done responding to you as this has gone way OT and I don't feel like further derailing a thread that is sure to be full of angry/drunken posters tonight.

Wow, first game I get out to post lock out, and man was that ugly. That save Allen made in the first period pretty much set the tone for this one. Also I believe it was the third goal they scored on us...the one where Macdonald went down, and pretty much fell asleep on his knees for 10 seconds leaving the net wide open was beyond terrible. Irving was out of the net before I even got to my seats so I can't really comment on his play. This whole come out skating hard from the start one game, to floating around forgetting how to make a pass for 30 minutes the next is so frustrating...ugh

Far be it from me to say that Babchuk deserves another chance, but he was +1 with an assist in an otherwise terrible game...that's with Smith playing a really bad game.
Sarich has been better than Butler, so I say do it.

At least Dallas just scored to go ahead of Vancouver by a goal with 3 minutes left.

Thats why they are the bottom pairing dmen. The main thing that people STILL miss is that when Butler or Babchuk gets caught out of position, the puck goes in our net when it is Butler. Look at Babchuk tonite caught out a few times, but no goals against.
