Out of the post ROTJ books the rogue squadron books are the best series. Legacy of the Force could have surpassed them but Karen Traviss wrecked them badly.

I went back and read the Thrawn trilogy and they really haven't aged well at all. Maybe I liked them because they were among the first EU books.

Fate of the Jedi was a nine book mass of brown bananas.

I've pretty well stuck to the prequel series books and the Old Republic books, they just seem to be better.

The Thrawn Trilogy was also rendered irrelevant by the Prequels. I don't care how many ret cons there are.

Yup, a completely weird concept of the Clone wars featuring clones against clones.

Until they married her to Skywalker and she went soft, at least until she was offed

Her last fight was good but showed how far she had fallen.

Peripheral part, or key character?

Star Wars VII: Empire of the Crystal Skull?

The first spinoff movie could be a Yoda origin story

http://www.critiques4geeks.com/2013/...st-to-get-one/

this i like, seeing as how badass Yoda was one of the few things i liked about the prequels. and for a central original trilogy character, we really know nothing about him, even the EU never delved into his past that i can remember

AFAIK, George Lucas has prohibited any material produced to go into detail about Yoda's past. I guess that would be changing now...

The one thing I'd hope for with this, is that they use some more puppetry for it and not just rely entirely on CGI.

aka - no triple-backflips please. Yoda's more badass when you just know he could do something crazy, not when you see him do something crazy.

lot of talk on stand alone films for various characters, including Yoda, Vader, Boba Fett and Obi Wan

Quote:
A series of Star Wars standalone films is reportedly being planned while the eagerly anticipated episode seven is in production.
One such spinoff might focus on the plight of the heroic Jedi Knight, played by McGregor in episodes one to three and Alec Guinness in versions four, five and six.
McGregor told the U.K. Sun newspaper that he fully supports the idea, adding: “Before Alec Guinness (who played the original Obi), there’s that period where he’s in the desert. That might be my window — to tell that story.
“I don’t know what he did in the desert. We could make up some stuff. Could be exciting.
“I’d be up for it, for sure, of course.”
Quote:
I can confirm to you today that in fact we are working on a few standalone films, Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga. We still plan to make Star Wars 7, 8, and 9 roughly over a six-year period of time, starting in 2015. But there are going to be a few other films released in that period, too.

Whoooo....Obi-Wan in the desert. Are they going to show him knitting throw-rugs and chasing Jawas off his lawn?

I don't see many of the prequel cast getting back into the Star Wars universe. Maybe Hayden? Ha. I think the rest probably regret being involved in the prequel mess. Unless starring in some movie to bridge the prequel and original series makes him a ton of movie to bankroll his independent projects, I don't see Ewan McGregor having anything to do it. I call this the "Crispin Glover Maneuver".

Yeah they badly ruined Yoda with all that crappy fighting.

Yoda's mystique is the juxtaposition between his size and power and the viewers imagination allowing them to arrive to their own conclusions.

Just so much awful about those prequels. Ruining Yoda was one of the worst.

McGregor has already said he would love to do another Star Wars movie.

The messed up thing is that there was a video showing Lucas and others discussing the Yoda fight scene in pre-production. They directly talked about having to be careful about not making it look silly. So even after discussing it, they still pushed out that cartoony piece of crap. Lucas is just the worst, it's too bad he already killed my love of that universe by retconning all the mystery out of it. Too bad he didn't sell before the prequel trilogy.

Holy crap you couldn't be more wrong in your life

Sam Jackson, Liam Neeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Christopher Lee, Ahmed Best, Daniel Logan and some others from the prequels returned to do work on the Clone Wars.

Ewan MacGregor and Ian McDarmid have already said they loved working with Lucas and in Star Wars and would be more then happy to reprise their roles (This was before the Disney purchase.

Probably the only two major characters that wouldn't return would be Portman who stated in interviews that she really enjoyed working on the prequels and with Lucas (She's not only too big now, but she was bloody awful in the prequels, and her character is dead), and Hayden but who knows since his career has really fallen apart.

If you watch the making of the prequels stuff, MacGregor and Jackson really had a great time making the movies. At one point in shooting the PM MacGregor does a back flop off a ledge during a fight scene and then thrashing on the mat basically yelling "Star Wars F%ck yes" before being shushed by the crew.

Even if you look at the Original trilogy actors, a lot of them continue to love Star Wars and valued working with Lucas, the fact that Carrie Fisher has repeatedly participated in events for Lucas and helped with scripting and Ford is willing to come back speaks volumes.
