Found out about it in a movie with Clive Owen, it was in the movie and turned out to be a real website. Does anyone know if there is such a registry in Canada? The only one i could find is one that was for RCMP only.
And it should stay with the RCMP
Look up Stephen Marshall if you need reasons.
Sure, there are dangerous people on that list. But there's also people who pissed on the side of a building or teenagers who were accused of statutory rape due to the U.S's ridiculous laws; these registries would only have the name of the law and no description of the act.
Innocent people don't need their lives ruined here in Canada as well.

Actually the Liberal apologists opposed the tough on crime bill because these were exactly the type of crimes the Conservatives aren't getting tough on. Instead, they decided to use our resources to go after those dastardly hippies and their pot plants.

I did like how fred pointed out exactly why this sentence was handed out and we still have completely clueless people up in arms about the sentencing. I'm guess it's most likely a lack of comprehension and/or understanding. While I feel bad for Holt and Fleury, I think maintaining judicial legitimacy is more important than serving out vengeance to quench the bloodthirsty mob.

Interestingly, it sounds as though the Crown argued for a four year sentence on appeal. The Court of Appeal agreed the trial judge erred and ordered even more prison time than the prosecution was asking for.

I don't have stats on this, but I'm confident that kind of result is rare. Usually the Courts of Appeal leave the sentence alone, choose one of the numbers argued by the lawyers, or picks a sentence within that range.

5 years is nothing. He'll have day pass availability after 1.5, and be out on parole after 2.5 .

I think the people inside the prison will make him feel like he's serving a 10 year sentence.

Even the scummiest murderers and drug dealers find child molesters lower than themselves.

was coming to post similar - I would suspect that he will receive a fairly subsantial dose of frontier justice.

I'm pretty sure they would keep him separated from the main group of inmates because of his crime they would know he is a target. Unfortunately in a case like this Canada doesn't treat the justice system like the LAPD.

Yes we have a Prison Guard in the family and convicts like Graham are referred to as "skinners" on the inside.

Even though the pervs are usually housed together they get targeted in the cafeteria or other public places even a library.
Apparently alot of these skumbags get jobs in the library and distributing books.
Asides from what the public might think they get beaten or raped. Which can happen but is difficult because of limited opportunities.
They get burned with lit cigarettes most often. A prisoner will just walk by or standing in line burn their neck or arms and keep moving.

My sister is a corrections officer and at the prison she works at, they rotate people around and she is currently stuck with the pedos. She told me though, that as much as she finds their crimes disgusting, they actually tend to be the nicest and most polite prisoners. Part of that is probably because they know how much they rely on the officers for security.

exactly which is the same as what i have been told which is also why they seek the the library jobs and are friendly to officers because they are their means of protection and survival.

Pedophiles might be sick and terrifying people, but I am the treatment of those truly despised is one of the real measuring sticks of a civilized society and I am firmly against vigilantism and "frontier justice" in general.

Some quick cigarette burns, pushes, shoves etc... Meh. Might do that myself.

So you agree to it to the extent that you would do it, but no more than that?

If it was personal i don't think you would feel that way i can only speak for myself though.
As far is inside prison walls even criminals have their moral totem poles and the pervs are at the very bottom. Child offenders are slotted even below rapists.
Vigilante or not they have branded themselves once they enter that world.
