Irving looks a little shaky on scrambly plays, but looks to have solid positioning on more set plays. I think he'll get better if he continues to get a chance to play.

Watching Curtis Glencross is very frustrating despite his goal tonight. He reminds me of Bieksa in the sense that he can be a very good player if he plays within his limits, but becomes exponentially bad when he finds a little success because he starts to think he's better than he's capable of.
Ah yes, Consistency. A work used consistently for a few years now!
Glencross is a puzzle, you're absolutely right. He can be so good and then- it's just gone. I don't really know what to think about Irving, looks awkward, then gets the job done quite well at other times. Have to see more of him.

Cervenka was great tonight.. He broke his stick on one chance, hit a cross bar on the next, and simply fanned on the shot on his last chance. Bachman was playing too deep in his net on his only goal. Cervenka should also have had a hat-trick tonight IMO.

Bouwmeester continued to look good. He's more physical and always sneaking in from the point into the slot when it makes sense. He's been a very different player under Hartley, so yes, I blame Brent Sutter for Bouwmeester's struggles the last few seasons.

Cammy looked good, but not 2008 Cammy. He got squeezed out by bigger guys on more than a few plays, but he was able to find open ice to receive passes which is why he's been successful throughout his career.

Cervenka is still very slow. Not sure if this is due to bad skating/technique or that he's out of shape, so it's hard to say. From a skill standpoint, he definitely has talent and a lot of it. More interesting than Cervenka was the line of Cervenka, Hudler and Tanguay though. Awesome skill and I think if Hartley is willing to keep Tanguay with this line, will become the highest scoring line for the Flames this year regardless how hot Iggy gets.

Kind of odd how none of the same posters from losing PGTs like to join in winning PGTs.

Not naming any names.

Wideman has been amazing for us. Pleasantly surprised at this off-season signing, turning out to be actually a pretty great pick up.

Bouwmeester was great in the first and just okay in the 2nd and 3rd. He was terrible on the two Morrow goals leaving him free to score easily but outside of those two breakdowns he was good.

Cammalieri did a great job of taking advantage of his chances tonight. I guess that was the old Cammy who buried the chances he got.

I didn't think Cerevenka looked any better skating tonight then he has in the past and haven't been that impressed with him overall but he looked the same as he has in the first couple of games for me.

Also noticed that PGTs when we win are shorter, than the ones were the Flames don't win.

He was mostly very good. He got the Benn assignment (Gio got Jagr and it was ugly) and was unusually physical against him. He jumped up in the play and scored the opening goal, while skating very well in transition on D and offence. Unfortunately, he had some weaker plays in the zone including on the first Dallas PP goal where he lost position on Morrow leaving him wide open for a tap in.
2) Was the 2008 Cammy back tonight?
He was great tonight. From the opening whistle he was pursuing the puck and looked fast out there. He had great anticipation on his second goal of the night on the forecheck where he kept the puck in on a rim and eventually it made its way back to him. He was making good passes all game too.
3) How was Cervanka, specifically how was his foot speed? Does he look like he might have another gear or is he just a smart slow offensively gifted player like a Jason Allison?
Somewhere in between. I've been worrying about his speed but I thought he looked pretty quick tonight. Sort of like Hudler, he is pretty good in short bursts but he isn't going to blow past anyone. He definitely knows how to find space though. He should have had at least 3 tonight.

Not sure who you are talking about but it isn't that odd and has a lot to do with the garbage that is brought up in the losing PGT's.

Seriously so many posters are such debbie downers. We win and people are still harping on guys like Butler and Irving. If we could pull off a win with a few guys not at their best vs losing when all the guys play amazing and dominate (chicago), I'd happily take the win everytime.

Lots of posters go to home games and get hosed on heroin beer, thus losing the motivation to log in.....

I think any change in Bouwmeester's game has been the product of the Wideman addition. Leaves him with a better D partner allowing him to take more chances. I've been a Butler defender, but even with Giordano playing below his potential that's a huge partner upgrade for Bouwmeester.

Wideman might be the best off-season acquisition in decades. He's awesome.

Why are people so obsessed with other posters these days?

What a fun game! I am still in love with Cervenka. I am very sad for Byron however and I really hope that after healing he can get another shot before the end of the season.

Does this mean we finally might get a few shifts of Cervenka-Horak-Hudler and get to laugh at the Czech-ing line joke? (I'm totally onboard with it). I really want to see Reinhart come up for a spell then Horak getting all the opportunities afterwards.

I'm pretty optimistic but I've had enough of Chris Butler right now, he was definitely responsible for one goal against tonight... If we get on the stats he has 0 points and is a -5 on the season... I think he might need a bit of self-confidence right now and I hope he can get there.

Yay, GFG!

Wasn't talking about you.

But you're right. There's a lot of sh*t chucking in losing PGTs and a lot of bickering. So nice not to have to hear the same pessimistic posters over and over again in those threads.
