I think you mistake extreme frustration with gloating. Let's face it, anyone on this forum posting day after day is a legitimate fan; happy, constructive, angry or negative. If you are here discussing hockey day after day it's because you want this team to win, in that we are all the same. In my mind I analyze the trends and see us lucky to not be last in the league, but like all of us I can never cheer for us to lose.
Sometimes frustration comes out in different forms, the only time I think anyone is open to criticism here is when they cross the line and start telling people what they can say or making it personal.

That's not what is happening. You accused several people of having reading comprehension issues, maybe you should consider your own.

What is the difference? Are you saying that there are two types of posters, one who is relentlessly negative while the other group is objective and the team just happens to be lousy? Or are you saying that there are NO relentlessly negative posters who show up in every pre-game thread and predict a loss, then show up in the post-game threads when the team loses to point out how bad they are and then mysteriously remain absent when the team wins?
I'm genuinely curious because it seems obvious to me that there do exist posters who are constantly negative and make the board miserable for anybody who wants to be optimistic.

Who is gloating? Show me the gloating posts?

Give it a rest Moon.

Who said it was a measuring stick? Just pointing out that when healthy this team wasn't exactly racking up the points.

I would love to see examples of this because for the most part I see a lot of whining from posters about how this goes on and then whining about nobody showing up after wins but never see a lot of evidence of it at all.
If anything the "optimistic" posters do their best to make sure nobody criticizes the team at all with their over the top posts.

I think those posters exist, sure, but they are in the minority. For those of us who want this team to win but see the flaws for what they are, the holier than thou attitude is really annoying because you lump us into that polarized view.
I mean we're 26th in the league, of course there is going to be a significant amount of criticism. We are one of the teams in the league that spends nearly to the cap every year and we're almost last, criticism is going to arise. To be honest I don't really see a lot of the gloating anyways, who would come here to gloat about our team sucking anyways? If anyone is doing that they have issues.

Allow me to clear up the point I was making: The first five games of the season are not a good measuring stick. So when we get some bodies back it should make a considerable difference over the roster we iced tonight.

Several posters come across that way to me in just about every post game thread over the last couple years. I'm not interested enough in what you think to dig up examples. I stated that's how it comes across to me.

I considered it, and then thought not. I arrived at the opinion that I'm going to stick with my opinion because it's my opinion.

Wow, this guy on Overtime better not come on here, he is a self-identified fan who says that the Flames are losers, that they are lousy, that they are pathetic, that they have been losers with Iginla and Kipper and that they are nowhere near being an elite team. He sounds like the ultimate anti-fan......he ended the call by saying that the Flames have not been successful and will not be successful. Not sure how he can even identify himself as a fan.

If it was Kerr doing overtime he would have cut the caller off. Stienberg is too nice and polite to the callers.

if our team has the most games missed due to injury twice in 2 seasons one would have to conclude that it's indicative of a deeper problem with the team. We statistically have the fewest hits and the fewest penalties of any team this year. Statistically our injury woes lend credence to the fact that we may not be tough enough.
|
irony isn't your strong suit is it? I ask because that's a pretty damn pretentious post.
We know what's wrong with the team. We've known what's been wrong with the team for 6+ years. Your "proactive thinking/objective analysis" as you put it is nothing new. Stop waving your amateur nhl analyst banner for a minute and go read the forum for the last several years. There are gaping holes in this roster that have been there for the better part of a decade - and management hasn't been able to fill them.
Toughness isn't the issue here. Plenty of teams have been able to win without toughness. The problem is heart, and frankly, I haven't seen a gutsy performance from this team in a very long time. This team needs a spark to rekindle the fire in their bellies. In years past, that would have been an embarrassing loss to a conference rival, but they've been playing for 8th for so long, they don't seem to care anymore.

Cant really dispute any of that honestly. Unless you mean he is saying they are losers Because of Kip and Iggy.
