Biggest difference between last night and the previous 3 games to me was that the Flames sticks weren't near as active as they usually are. We really missed Backlund's game last night as well.

Over-reaction? I slept on it. Defending Comeau is your right. He's terrible. Guess we watch two different teams. Timeout after the penalty was called, not after the tying goal. Was a defensive zone start, right? At a critical point in the game. No? I'm glad we see eye to eye on one point.

That's how most teams are when they play the Flames. It sucks because this team doesn't have the respect of most other teams and a lot of fans. A few years ago, this team would strike fear in other teams, teams hated playing against the Flames and they not only had their respect but they had a chance.
Most teams have changed and evolved their game, they built around the players they had or brought new players in. The Flames have just become complacent. Not much has changed and because of it games like last night happen. The nucks haven't changed that much, the Flames have just gotten worse.

Agreed, but why should they respect the Flames? They have donenothing to earn the Nucks respect....

I'm so glad that I watched the bits that I saw with inaudible volume. It probably sounded like Canucks' pre cup parade show with "those vet hatin' guys from CBC".
And I likely would have broken something.

respect comes from winning.. Flames start doing more of that and they'll earn respect.

I missed the game last night. I was at the Heat game.
How did Street look? I heard he had a nice elbow to the face of Bieksa.

I didn't think he looked out of place. Skated hard, won some good battles along the boards including one in the 1st that kept the play alive in the Canucks zone. All in all a decent game.
The elbow was icing on the cake.

It looked like an accident, but it was a pretty good shot. Bieksa said after the game he had just slashed him so who knows.

Brutal game, but the Flames actually did what they needed to on this road trip. So if your the Flames I think you learn from a few things and sweep it away. Key is how they respond on Monday and next week for the 3 home games. People were talking about earning the Nucks and the medias respect, well the Flames also have to start earning belief from the fan base they are a different squad. Do so by keep playing well and not turning one off losses into multiple game streaks. Get right back on the horse and make damn sure you play well on Monday and make sure you get 2 out of 3 this week. They start to do that consistently after losses then maybe we are seeing a different team, if they don't, then we are likely watching the same group as last year simply playing a different coaches system.

unless he broke that creeps jaw with an elbow what is the point of beating this lame point to death.
Does anyone have a clip of this. If so it should be celebrated.
It should be a gif.
There should be parties thrown for years "do you remember when Bieksa got smashed in the face"

You had to know the current injury status of the Flames, who were at the end of a road trip before you ventured out to the Canucks bar.
I feel bad for you man because that would be a tough night to enjoy, but it's like saying " I pick a bad night to buy a lottery ticket"
At least you didn't rock the face paint...(I hope)

Take this game for what it was... An injured Flames team at the end of a road trip playing a Canucks team that's starting to find its legs. I know it make us cringe to admit but the Canucks, despite their creepy twin brothers that look like sex offenders and dirty tactics, are one of the best teams in the league. The Flames are not, especially without Kiprusoff and several top forwards. I think what's more important than this loss is the bounce back. We need to string together another two or three wins and get back on track right away. Losses will happen this season. Teams like Vancouver will have good nights when you're missing some key guys. It happens.

The biggest take out of last nights game is they were playing a division rival on national TV and had no push. That's unacceptable.

We never got any buzz going like we have against Columbus, Detroit, or Chicago. Our strongest games we would have four or five strong shifts in a row, where each successive line would build on the energy of the previous.
Two things were different - first, the injuries make our top-9 far less energetic. We need some of those bodies back. Second, the Sedins' ability to outplay any line we played against them hurt badly any momentum we may have generated.

LOL
Calm down it wasn't like it was a flying elbow in which Street took a run from the other side of the ice.
It was an accidental elbow during the play that looked like it stung more than anything else and will result in Bieksa missing exactly 0 minutes of ice time.
Plus the fact that Bieksa deserves every bad thing that happens to him makes a little play like that all the more fun.

If found him to be pretty invisible. No bad plays but no real good plays either (outside of elbow to Bieksa). Probably a good thing for a call-up making his season debut but not great for a guy on basically the second line.
