True, but the amount of times one of them looked up the ice with time and put the puck right on the stick of a Canuck was driving me crazy.

CBC is gawd awful with the commentary. I think that there will be a significant trade made by the Flames in the near future.
Why players wait for the puck is beyond me. No hustle tonight.

Ugh, terrible effort overall. Pretty much gave up after the two quick goals in the second. There should have been at least some pushback.

Butler / Smith were bad tonight. Both had a couple brutal giveaways in the defensive zone.

Stempniak was pretty good and the 4th line had some chances but otherwise the forwards were awful. Glencross was completely invisible.

Don't normally complain about refs but 4/5 calls were dives.

Irving was okay, had some really good saves and kept them in it for a long time. The deflection goals were tough but the back breaker at the start of the third was a bit weak.

I just hope they don't waste too much grape juice trying to turn this vinegar into wine.

He should have had that 2nd goal. instead the Canucks go up 27 seconds after tying it and all the air went out of the Flames from there.
If we started Kipper we would have still been blown out.

Timing is important, but no way did after the second nucks goal convince the flames to stop trying for the night. It's not Irving's fault that the team in front of him decided to take the night off.

But, the whole of the Flames team suck tonight, with the exception of Brodie.
Irving was decent as a backup. A few brilliant saves, and a few times he bobbled the puck a bit. Rebounds were definitely sometimes very awful, though as fans we get a bit more used to Kipper smothering them/controlling them well.

I don't know if Irving just has some jitters still, but he seems to lose the puck at times in the crease, or he thinks he has it when he doesn't. He did make some very outstanding saves, however.

If you're Hartley, you find was was good in this game, and use that to motivate the dressing room. If the officials weren't completely biased we may have seen a different outcome. That's no excuse, though.

We can say, ah, well, we sucked ass this game, so let's suck ass for the 42 games we still have to play, or we can say, we sucked ass this game, let's learn and come out strong at home.

Remember we got 4 of a possible 6 points out of this road trip.. and that's pretty damn good for a team that's said to be struggling. There's a lot of good that came out of this game and that alone means we aren't doomed eternally at the bottom of the conference.

I agree. As a back up goaltender, he made enough big saves that should have gotten our forwards going. Nothing in this world was going to get them going tonight.

Brodie was a -1 tonight but was the best player on the ice. Jones was the best forward but was only as noticeable as he was because everyone else around him was so darned awful. Street isn't ready. Killed any momentum that line had and was actually surprised Hartley didn't re-united Stajan with Cervenka and Hudler. Comeau HAS to go! Not once have I seen anything resembling good play out of him so far this season.
Poor Irving played as best he could, wasn't good enough but he was hung out to dry tonight.
Vancouver simply outclassed us tonight.

I only saw the first bit and the last bit of the game tonight.

so you're meaning to tell me that Hartley

DID NOT PUT STAJAN WITH ROMAN AND JIRI after seeing that Street was not working there?????

and

DID NOT PUT TAYLOR IN AFTER 4-1 to actually see if we're got something in this guy when it's a nothing to lose situation?????

WOW abysmal coaching decisions, or lack thereof.

Come on Bob, wake up.

But I don't put this on him, I put this on the Captain and his linemates. Mind showing up when your team needs somebody to lead by example? Way to fall on your backside every time you're in the slot Jarome.

Those shots in the 3rd on Schneider were soooo weaksauce didn't look at ALL like they were trying to score with those, looked like they were just playing pass to Schneidwhore. There were many a' facepalms I tell you.

God d***it. The one team I wish you guys would just stem the tide against. I don't like these 5-1 games, reminds me of early last season.

Then again typical canucks being d###es and padding the stats after they already had the match on a struggling backup. Hope we smoke them 6-1 when they have similar key players out. (more than Kesler)

Backlund is sorely missed. Can we flip street for horak?

Sweep it under the rug, but ftlog give us a real effort next game.

They should call up the best players on the Heat, and sit the whole so called top line. I wonder when the last time Iggy was sat due to poor play?

Maybe 10 good passes all game, most of them from Wideman or Brodie.

Iggy tried like hell, but once again, focus your D on Iggy and the offence dries up. Really need some other scoring.

Bouwmeester was weak, Gio just looks lost.

Lots of grade A chances, but boxed out quickly by the Canucks D. Flashes of the Flames we've seen in the last while, but more flashes of the old Flamess unfortunately.

We are not an elite team. We played a team with four straight wins, coming off two straight presidents trophies. That was evident tonight.

Cervenka is out of shape.

Waaaaaaaaay too many blind panicked passes

Confidence is still an issue

Like I mentioned in GT, as most of the posters here witnessed, the Flames only showed 8-10 of active sticks. However, there was not even a short period of time that the team took over the plays. 1:5 is a lucky score already as the Canucks still don't look as threatening as last year or two. Anyways, if the Flames was able to take a page from the Canucks, I hope it would be a smooth, fast and crisp passing. The hesitation of the Flames is very frustrating to watch.

I felt like it was coached by Brent.

With exception of a few plays, Irving had good control of his rebounds. he also made key saves in the first period that allowed the Flames to escape with a 1-0 lead. He's played 2 1/2 games and has looked pretty good overall.

Tonight the team gave up in the last 2 periods and gave Irving no support. Sure looks nervous at time but i'm willling to give him some time before we label him "McBackup" or "AHLirving"
