I'm sure it was tongue in cheek, because no sane person is actually going to believe that any team (let alone the Flames) are going to completely home grow their roster EVER, nevermind in a three year span.

I sure hope this kid comes to camp ready to go next year, and at the very least earns and keeps a full time gig with the Heat. Size, toughness, and the ability to score. We need a kid like that to develop into an effective NHLer.

And I am still just as confident that he will

No way Jankowski makes the team in the next three years. Waaaay to much maturing left to do

When you watch how the Oilers midgets are suffering so many injuries, it really would be wise to make sure that Gaudreau and Jankowski develop a lot more physically before turning pro.
Yes the skill level might be NHL ready, but if you bring them in before they are physically ready, you might just be ruining their career long term.

Ferland is looking like a great asset for the Saskatoon Blades. I heard the head coach, Lorne Molleken, saying in an interview on CTV news that "Ferland was getting his conditioning back, getting his timing back and his confidence back". Not sure if this reflects well on how he was managed in Abbotsford but happy to see him getting his game back.

Apparently Providence's game against New Hampshire tomorrow has been cancelled.

Postponed until Wednesday. Now, instead of playing in Providence on Friday and New Hampshire on Sunday, they'll play in NH on Sunday and Providence on Wednesday.

The Heat and Grizzlies each had way too many forwards, so Ferland couldn't play and therefore couldn't get his timing and in-game conditioning.

How does Ferland's game compare to Bouma's?

I haven't seen him play but Ferland fights more and wins more and scores more.

Yeah, I guess I'd say Ferland has the higher upside but has less chance to make it.

I'm not judging, because I've seen Ferland play very little, but why do you both share these opinions? Is it from what you've seen of him playing live, the dust up in Cochrane (dumb on his part), or other bits of info. you've gathered over the years? Again, not judging, but I'd like to know what I'm missing.

For me it has nothing to do with Cochrane. Ferland wasn't able to establish himself at the pro level in his first year, whereas Boumo did. I'm not writing Ferland off, I'm cheering for him, (I have a soft spot for FN players) but he has to bring it next year or he'll end up like a few other prospects in the ECHL.

If anyone gets a chance to see any Portland Pirates games, watch out for Darian Dziurzynski. From what I have seen he plays a very similar game to Ferland, except I would say that Ferland is a better offensive player. Ironically Darian was dealt from Saskatoon to Brandon back when he was in the dub and Ferland was dealt from Brandon to Saskatoon.

I was disappointed with him not "succeeding" this year at the AHL level also...regardless of NHL lockout and expanded AHL rosters. As with you, I pull for the kids who've never had anything handed to them such as many of First Nation kids.
I hope the Flames are on his case this summer about staying in shape...if Jarome re-signs with the Flames, he should take Ferland in

The thing is we have no toughness in our organization. Fighter is one thing but we can use more grit for sure. Begin and Jackman are decent but when the game gets rough we don't want our better players fighting.
