I'm pretty sure Hartley will stick with Leland.
I think he's really trying to build up Leland's confidence as he was very very complimentary about his play after the game, even though any knowledgeable hockey fan could see that Irving was only average.

If the flames used that logic, we would have Horak instead of Comeau. Certain circumstances happen where not all the best players are on the team.

Roman Turek should come out nWo style and hit Sedin over the head with the title belt

The flames get trashed by its fans constantly about being old and needing a rebuild and talent in the system.
Then when we finally give this talent a chance we throw them right under the bus for performing below the vets,
its absolutely ridiculous.
There are *very* few players that are top notch or even above average when entering the league, if Irving playing average
tells us anything it should be that we actually have a backup goalie that can win games and that we have a goalie prospect who has a legitimate shot at being a starter.

I still would have to say based on what I have seen this year, and the numbers, that Taylor has been the stronger goalie. But heres too hoping Irving proves me wrong

Jesus, no one is throwing Leland under the bus. He played fine, not great. Is that not a fair comment?

Again, I agree with that. Taylor was better on the farm this year but that's not the point either. If the Flames wanted Taylor in the NHL and have an NHL contract earlier he would have been.

Dude, you create a thread asking about which goalie to play after a win, people say go with the winning goalie, then every single post you have is about how Irving doesn't deserve the starting spot and how Taylor would have the backup job if the Flames would have given him a 2-way contract earlier, then when debated about it, saying you hope more people are on your side if Irving gets lite up in Vancouver.
Yeah, you aren't hoping for it at all...

Irving to start then after he gets lit up by not Columbus you pull him and let Taylor play.
I hope it doesn't go down that way but he didn't play that great tonight and I would expect the Canucks to play a much more offensive game Saturday.

Irving needs to do a better job of positioning. He didn't challenge on the first goal and didn't have his glove up, second goal he was far too committed to the left side and didn't give himself a chance to make a play on a cross ice pass, and the third one he had no chance on, as that was terribly played by Giordano.
The Sedin's will pick up 5 points each if he plays the same against the Canucks.

Goalie controversy already? Leland Irving is the man right now while Kipper is injured. It doesn't make any sense that they kept Irving as the backup and traded Karlsson. Danny Taylor were signed as an emergency backup. It doesn't matter if Taylor outplayed Irving in the AHL, they are now in the NHL and I thought aside from the soft goal Irving gave up, the other two goals wasn't really his fault. Let the kid prove he belongs in the NHL before people dump on him.

It's a completely different game between the AHL and the NHL folks

All I said was that it should be a point for discussion if it happens. Where do you get the impression that I want it to happen? Believe me, I want nothing more than Leland to perform like he did last year in Vancouver and then there wouldn't be a debate about the next start.
I don't care about somehow being validated and have him be lit up, and if it did happen, I wouldn't feel like that all anyways.
You're way off base here.

But it's definitely a question worth re-visiting if Leland gets lit up on Saturday. Can I at least get some agreement here? please?
|
If "Leland gets lit up on Saturday" and Kipper is going to be weeks away, Feaster will probably make a trade for Bishop or someone, before letting Taylor get the start.
