They were in it till last couple of minutes then the D just collapsed. Nobody covering Christina and she kept getting easy hoops.
A tough big man could've really helped. Gay is solid though, loved DeRozen taking it strong a few times.
Also too many missed FTs, gotta make those.
Good stuff though, even if they don't make it this year next year this team should be even better.
Hopefully they get rid of their pick condition in this years draft and then look to package expiring Andrea and the 1st for a decent big man in the summer.

On paper, simply swapping in Gay for Anderson should make an even better smallball lineup. I know people are all over the fact that Gay isn't a particularly great passer and is too much a chucker, but when you swap him in for Anderson (which is where the bulk of his minutes will come from, it'll probably create more ball movement. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see that being Casey's crunch-time lineup for the time being.

So I'm going to own up to this, the Lowry/Ross/DeRozan/Gay/Johnson unit was on the floor for the last five minutes tonight, and got totally destroyed. I'm still optimistic that it can be an effective lineup, but of course they're playing an excellent team who know how to close out games well.
I also think it's critical to run some plays to give Ross open looks at 3-pointers early in the game. That way, the other team has to respect his shot. When he doesn't attempt a 3 until late in the fourth (and airballs it), then he's useless for floor-spacing.

I'm not sold on Gay and Demar together. I think that Demar will have to go someday, because Gay is essentially a pro mans Demar, with more height and a longer reach.

I'm thinking the 3 spot is fixed. 2 is good with DD and PG is good with Lowry. Amir at the 4 is a good start. Leaving a gap at the 5. JV ain't ready. Gray is a backup. I'm trading Bargnani for that next piece and in the meantime playing him at the 5 for showcasing.

I hope not, BC overpaid and now rebuilding is not an option. Big mistake on BC's part, but now you might as well go all in and get Pau Gasol for an eighth seed beatdown by the Miami Heat.

Celtics exposed the lack of forward strength on the Raptors. Garnett et. al. just owned them inside. The Raptors just have too many nice guys on the roster. They need some guys with attitude. Meanwhile they play Ross and JV like 5 minutes combined. The dumb just keep getting dumber.

At this point Ross and Valanciunas would get beaten hard by the idiots on the Celtics roster, so agree with them playing limited minutes against them. They're both undersized at this point muscle-wise, so why have an expert shooter (Garnett) and all round dirty nosed team, play against your rookie players? I really believe both guys need to get a thicker skin before playing a team like Boston. There aren't many games I'd give those guys limited minutes, but against Boston and maybe even LA, I'd avoid riding them.
I agree they need toughness though. I was surprised when they let Evans walk, but they need a guy like him - but a more skilled version playing Centre.

Reports saying Bargs for Boozer is being discussed. That would give us some needed toughness. We would probably have to throw in Fields to match salaries.

Man i love to see Carlos Boozer in Raptors' uniform. I guess Colangelo finally realized Bargnani doesnt fit in with this team. Barg is good player, he can shoot and big. Unfortunately he rely too much on shooting from the outside and not using his 7 foot frame as his advantage.

Getting rid of that awful Fields contract would be great but still looks like a save your job, keep the team mediocre for the next 3 years but I guess getting rid of whipping boy Bargnani might help show the other huge problems with the team.

Very interesting if Boozer comes here. Definitely not an elite scorer anymore, or that fleet of foot as he was in Utah, but I kinda like what he'd bring to the team. Combine this with an off-season signing of a centre (which apparently there will be quite a few to choose from), and all of a sudden the team looks rather solid. Thank goodness for Gasol getting injured, because his injured carcass on the Raps would just not look good.

I thought I'd post Andrew Wiggins stat line from tonight, after SI posted an article questioning if he plays hard all the time, and it just makes me pray the Raps tank badly next year and Adam Silver rigs the lottery as much as Stern did.

Andrew Wiggins scored 57 points on 24 of 28 shooting, with 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks

With the trio of Lowry-Gay-DeRozen and progression of Amir, Ross, JV it'll be a disaster if the Raps are looking at a lottery pick by then.
Wiggins needs to do the right thing and say he'll only play for the Raps.

The Boozer thing ain't happening. Makes no sense for the Raptors as it would put them into luxury tax problems. They get a good rebounder and some good inside presence but a guy who is just as crappy if not worse than AB on defense. There has already been confirmation the deal is dead for the moment. It was the Bulls reaching out and not the Raps.
They need to holdout right till the deadline and get the best deal possible. This sure ain't it.

Yeah, I think a better deal will emerge either at the deadline or in the offseason. I'd take Gasol over Boozer, even (better fit in style of play, shorter contract). But something that helps get a younger guy like Millsap or Hickson would be far preferable.

Why would Chicago consider this?

Tie Game! And the Raptors outscored the Pacers 26-18 in the fourth so I would disagree with this comment.

Not a meltdown, but if they can pull this one off, it'll be one of the most satisfying wins of the season. The Pacers are a bunch of thugs, and it would be a nice finish if they could give them a beatdown and just walk off.
And as usual, the refs are a real bunch of clueless idiots.
