the only thing that I really disliked about the Republic and Imperial Commander series was that Karen Travess (sp?) seems to have a pretty weird fixation on anything Mandolorian, and at times she made the Clones way too Bobba Fett like.

I remember that the Republic Commando game was outstanding and had some great characters in it and great battles.

I really liked the first Force Unleashed Story, in a movie they would have to tone down his force powers, while it was cool to pull down a Star Destroyer with his mind, he was way too over poowered.

But I loved the story of Vader's secret apprentice who is sent out to build a phony rebellion that eventually becomes a real rebellion due to the actions of Palpatine and Vader.

It also had one of the best lines in Star Wars Lore when the droid who takes the form of whoever is using him to communicate takes the form of Vader to talk to Starkiller.

At the end of the Communication the droid collapses and says "I hate being him" and StarKiller replies "I think he hates being him too":

It just reminded me that Vader is as tragic of a figure as it gets.

According to IMDB, Ford is rumoured for Star Wars VII:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2488496/

They have all the old cast on there though so who really knows.. I wouldn't be surprised to see the older characters back in cameos, and Ford taking a more center role as he is the most popular of them all. And wow the guy that is doing C3PO is still going strong with video games, TV series, TV movies etc.. guy just made a fortune of a career out of that one character.

So according to the articles I have seen Lawrence Kasdan will be writing the off shoots, but not the main movies?

Quote:
There are no details yet about what direction the offshoots will take – a Yoda storyline seems to be a popular choice online – but Disney has brought on Lawrence Kasdan, who helped write The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and Simon Kinberg, producer of X-Men: First Class, for the planned spinoffs.

Disney CEO Bob Iger described the Star Wars spinoffs as "films derived from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga," and hinted the films could be released alongside the new Star Wars trilogy.

Bang on. I would agree with you about Traviss. The thing I loved about the Republic Commando games/novels was that they demonstrated that the clones weren't just a bunch of meat-bag robots. It tackled an interesting issue about what it means to be human, to be a person. I liked that they didn't all just blindly follow Order 66 and it was cool that some of them tried to protect their Jedi commanders.

As for the Force Unleashed, that Star Destroyer moment was both extremely cool and over the top. It reminded me a lot of the original Clone Wars cartoon where Mace Windu demonstrates his crazy over-the-top Jedi powers. This one:

I like the Starkiller story and I too thought it had a really cool twist. They could tone down some of the crazy force stuff and it would make a great movie. Plus you'd have that returning character factor in the form of Darth Vader/Palpatine.

BTW has anyone been watching the Clone Wars cartoon series, this seasons been a little weak, but there was a hell of a payoff in the last episode as Darth Sideous entered the Fray and completely kicked a$$ in a evil and glorious way.

That was interesting although I've never really considered Palpatine to be much of a physical combatant. His strength has always been of the mind and his ability to manipulate others. Also, Maul begging for mercy seemed weird.

She nearly single handedly wrecked the Legacy of the Force books with her masterbatory fantasies about Bob Fet and the "Mandos" the other writers worked really hard to position Jacen Solo as the next great Sith Lord and Karen comes along and has a 60 or 70 year old Bobba Fett kicking his a$$ from one end of the galaxy to the other.

some can't get by the fact that in the movie, Bobba Fett pretty much went out like a punk

BYW I'd love to see a movie about Dengar the bounty hunter that Vader points to when he says no disintegration.

I kinda agree, I still contend that Palpatine who was considered the most powerful Sith Lord ever was toying with Mace Windu. Remember he pretty much beat Yoda to a standstill and easily dispatched two Jedi masters without breaking a sweat.

I don't know if you've read the Plageous novel which was really well done, but Sideous was a master manipulator and strategist, but he was pretty accomplished in fighting.

Lucas considered him to be an embodiment of the Dark Side.

Dengar was a bad ass. Something from Tales of the Bounty Hunters would be sweet. Boba Fett was cool because you didn't know anything about him. The prequels ruined that by removing all of the mystery and having him as the clone of some Australian clown that got easily decapitated by Windu.

I haven't read that one yet but I always felt that Windu beat Sideous. To me Windu was a far better duelist but Sideous managed to take advantage by manipulating Anakin when he showed up. For all his strategy I don't believe he threw the fight in order to turn Anakin. That had already happened.

Isn't the lore that Windu was one of, if not the best, duelist pretty much ever?

Factor in that he probably comes back and isn't dead cause no one says no to Sammy J and Palpatine didn't even get the job finished. What a scrub Sith he was.

Said it before...and I'll say it again...Rogue/Wraith Squadron offshoot movies. Probably the most likeable cast of characters in the EU. Make it happen, Disney. (also, Warlord Zsinj vs General Han Solo is a great excuse to bring back an old Harrison Ford)

Less than 24 hours after Walt Disney Pictures officially confirmed plans to develop stand-alone feature films in the Star Wars universe, EW is reporting that they have learned which two characters the first two projects will focus on: Boba Fett and a young Han Solo.

The adventures of Han Solo pre-A New Hope was actually the focus of one of the earliest Star Wars novels, 1979's "Han Solo at Star's End," set two years before the events of the 1977 film.

The Boba Fett film, meanwhile, would be set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back and would follow the bounty hunter on an intergalactic adventure.

^^^ Please, no Boba Fett!

The Clone Wars cartoons has made me sick of Clones and the Mandalorians.

You're literally the only other person I've seen bring up Rogue Squadron so it's probably not going to happen. It's too bad because I agree, the cast of characters is fantastic in that series. Wedge, Corran Horn, Tycho Celchu etc. You've got returning characters in Solo, Luke Skywalker and Admiral Ackbar. The Force and Jedi take a back seat for the most part which is what I'd like to see in the next set of films.

What about Fassbender?

He's dead, the rumor of him coming back was origins stuff.

Palpatine hit him with UNLIMITED POWER then tossed him off a thousand story building.

It doesn't matter how strong the force is, fact is his body couldn't vanish like the other Jedi cause he hit the ground at Mach 2 smears can't vanish

I am not sure where you're going with this. Harrison Ford defined the Han Solo character and I can't think of an actor out there today that could do the character justice. You might as well go out and recast Indiana Jones or Marty McFly. I like Fassbender but he is no Harrison Ford.
