The mythos that surrounds James Dean and River Phoenix is not deserved in my opinion based on their bodies of work.
I think a far more interesting and accomplished actor who died too soon was John Cazale. An interesting documentary about him called "I knew it was you".

I would say that Tojo's is 20% or so better than your top end reasonably priced sushi joint. It costs 5-6 times the price though.
When I went to Tojo's I spent over $200 for a meal for two...afterwards we were still hungry and went somewhere else for more. And, in reality, there are only so many ways you can prepare raw fish. There are places in Vancouver I'd much rather go for $30-40 per person and be full afterwards.

That's why over half of us are considered obese.
You mean to say westernized asian food that was created to appeal to the western palate. In China chickens don't have balls.

This one I know is relatively unpopular based on the usual response I get. Alas, I still feel like I need to fight the good fight.
The Europeans have it right. Nothing beats a good beday. Seriously, you just feel so much cleaner after. I do a very good job of wiping, but it just doesn't make sense to me, there's no water there... so you're just wiping paper all over your ass. Really, you need some water to clean yourself.
Think about this.
Nobody ever says "now go rub down your hands with paper before dinner young man"
or "man what a great workout. I'm so sweaty. Give me 10 minutes so I can go roll around in paper and clean myself up."
Bottom line, is that, is your ass really clean? Really? How good was that wipe?
Bedays destroy toilet paper, because water is a great cleaning mechanism.

Can't say as I've ever been near one. Do you have one or were just somewhere where one was installed/in Europe?

I grew up in Europe as a kid for a little bit.
Our house had one... I seem to recall many places in Europe having them. They are terrific.

They are very common in Europe, when I was in Italy and told a female friend, a bidet is not common in North America she looked horrified.

"Politically correct" is basically code for "not being an insensitive jackass." Why is being inclusive and tolerant and considerate of others' feelings a bad thing? Most of the time, someone complaining about political correctness wants to say/do something offensive/rude/bigoted without being called on it.

Ya, pretty awful examples. Midget. And Merry Christmas. Whoa, dare I say Wonton? Wonton is chinese food. Must be a racial slur. What if someone was offended by the username Fatso? What then? Fatso. Fatso is apparently a champion of political correctness. Even though he has the username Fatso.

In a few minutes the US Postal Sevice will announce that it is going to discontinue Saturday mail delivery. I almost started a thread about it I was so excited. I am off today, so I texted th info to a coworker when it came up online and hour or so ago. This seems to be some kind of a shock for the Supervisors (or maybe not) as they called an emergency meeting around the old computer screen.
Why is this unpopular? Older folks like mail 6 days a week. Many younger people dont even realize we work on Saturdays, which is kinda funny.
This move is unpopular wuith the NALC (letter carriers union) as they feel it will cost jobs. They have just hired 22 new carriers for our office and they are due to start by April. Was this hiring done without the knowledge of this Saturday stuff? It will be interesting to see why this has suddenly been decided.
Supposedly this starts Aug 5.
This argument has been going on for years! Our PO is supposedly almost insolvent, but that in itself is another controversy.

I don't think we have it in Canada either, at least I don't recall getting mail on Saturdays.

I've never seen mail being delivered on Saturdays here.
I asked this before and can't remember if you answered, but is the US mail a fed.gov organization or a state or no govt affiliation? Ours is like a pseudo fed.gov dept.
If it is fedgov then the people should be rejoicing as the govt is reducing spending.

I think you guys had it back in the 50s or something.
On another note< I'm thrilled that they recently opened a poutine place in my town. This is something different for sure. Most people around here dont even know what it is. The closest place prior to this was an hour away in Dania .
Duff, we are actually self supporting financially. However a regulatory commission determines postage (which is far less than adequate to support us) . One of the contoversies is the government requires the PO to prefund the health care for retirees years 75 in advance. This was decided during the Bush Administration in 2006. We have been defaulting on that requirement. What's in dispute is whether not having that requirement would keep us solvent. Both sides are immobilized aboutsomething that should be easy to find out, I would think. Also, another question is whether or not the PO has the power to go to 5 day delivery as that ordinarily requires Congressional intervention. Since years have passed with nothing decided, and the PO apparently going broke in October without action, maybe something was done behind the scenes.
