Recording PPV with Shaw
At a buddies last night we decided to watch the flames game while PVR'ing the UFC event, while playing poker. I setup the recording and confirmed there was enough space and no other shows were going to record at the same time. I even hid the remote so no one would accidentally flip channels and screw things up.
After the game ended we started watching the UFC and after about 13 minutes the recording had ended. We didn't even see a single punch thrown.
Anyway, the remote was still on the shelf by the tv, the PVR had about 75% space and I know nothing was messed with.
We called Shaw and after waiting on hold for almost an hour (44 minutes to be exact) the CSR said too bad, that is your fault since you can't record PPVs and they get lots of calls after events claiming something was wrong and they want refunds. We were all pretty choked. I asked him why we can't record PPVs when I do it for almost every event. He said that wasn't possible, and have a good night. He was actually pretty rude about the whole thing. I asked to escalate to a manager and that I would not accept being put on hold.
Five minutes later the manager gets on the phone and claims they do not support recording PPVs so it is not their fault, so we get no refund. I asked her for the exact location for this so called rule, and she said she would look it up. I told her we would wait. This went in circles like this for a while until she gave us the refund. I reminded her that if the PVR can record a PPV they are essentially supporting recording PPVs, so either code it to prevent recording or support it. They shouldn't have it both ways since we couldn't see what seemed like a great UFC.
Does this happen to you guys? I can record every ppv, did Shaw simply mess this one up?
