Happy to see Irving finally get to play a couple games! Hope he plays against the Jackets, Kipper is useless against that team, and they suck!

Full circle might be Irving coming in and establishing himself as a No 1 goalie. Remember, the year we picked up Kiprusoff, he was the odd man out in SJ and lite up like a christmas tree with crap stats in SJ.
In limited viewings of just Calgary Flames games, I'm excited to see Irving show that he can be a No 1 guy and maybe make Kiprusoff expandable. (Thought it might be all for not if Kiprusoff is healthy and plays next game)

Irving did his job tonight no need to hit the panic button yet give the kid a game or two.

I guess the options they have if Kipper is out are:
1. Sign Brossoit and bring him up as an emergency back up.
2. Put Ortio on a plane to Columbas, if he doesn't arrive on time get a local goalie to sit on the bench.
3. Sign Taylor or Brust.
4. Make a trade.

Brossoit is not coming up, so there's no sense even speculating on it. If the team needs to sign a goalie on an emergency basis, they most certainly are NOT going to risk throwing a kid to the wolves. It'll be Taylor or Brust.
I suspect the plan was always for Irving to play against Columbus, so if it is minor, Kipper himself will probably be the backup. We'll see what happens in the next 24 hours though.

Having him up to open bench doors is throwing him to the wolves?

Anyone know what the rules are for bring in Ortio, so the Flames don't have to burn a NHL contract?

Ortio can not be recalled from Finland as players on loan are there for the season.

yes they did, said it was a lower body injury just before the period started and then they showed a closeup of Irving.

Give Irving a chance to start, sign Taylor on an emergency contract if his injury is serious and just play the rest of the games out until Kipper gets back. No trades for a goalie please. Give Irving a chance.

Draft Pick

I don't think Brossoit is a possibility, I doubt the NHL considers one injured goalie an emergency, allowing them to call up a player from Juniors.

I think an emergency recall is in the case where there is no other options within the organization... if Oritio can't be recalled, it meets that case.

I think it is just precautionary when Hartley pulled Kipper. He got the minor injury but they didn't want Kipper's minor injury to get worse. I think they will play Leland Irving next game anyways and decided they might as well give him some playing time before his first start next game.
I just hope Kipper's injury is not serious though.
